Question for the guys running 2 sets of 6.5s in the front

Post by jsayre914 »

I was kicking around the idea of mabey trying to fit one more set of RSD65s in the car, just to try and keep up with the 2 12RSDC in the front trunk

Would you run the 6.5 woofer off the crossover and leave the tweeter unhooked? 2 sets of tweeters is overkill right? Does the crossover need all speakers connected, or does it throw off the ohms if you leave the tweets off?

last possibility was to put the set right behind the seats, cutting into the firewall and mounting them about even with the small of your back. I figure you would not hear them at all in that position, but you would probably feel them :hmm:

I am still open for ideas.

The second set would be run off the XS4600 wich i believe has plenty of power for both sets. I was originally going to run one set bridged on that amp. I might very well just do that, how many speakers does one need in such a small cabin.

do you think i will be lacking in the midbass with just one set? they will be in custom sealed kicks i plan on building.

actually i just checked the manual online and if i use all 4 channels i only get 75 watts X 4 at 14.4 and i am not at 14.4 :(

I am better off using that amp bridged into 2 channels probably.

Not worth it really. Run double the amplification to one set of speakers for +3dB instead, without risking cancellation, cutting huge holes in your car, and other side effects of running multiple component sets.

yep and the more speaker's you have up front the harder it is to get the correct imaging and focus. :shaking2:
