Newbie from New B... runswick
Hey all,
Been watching your phorum from afar for awhile, thought I'd join in on the festivities.
Names Derek, 22, Oromocto, NB
Just got my new car, 2010 Lancer GTS, still stock HU, but I got RSD 6.5's in her, front and back.
Don't sound too bad.
What I am looking for is something that will give me amazing midbass.
I had 2 Xmax 12" V2 and the RsD's in my old(er) car but I wasn't getting the heart pounding midbass that I'm looking for. Felt like there was a power gap between the mids and sub...
Like I want the mids to rip my chest apart when the Freq. is juuuust too high for the sub to hit...
But I digress...
Anywho, thought I'd say sup, and looking forward to assist, but mostly learn.... ok, only learn, about the amazing pieces of equipment you guys got here.
Cheers mates!

Those RSDs have more midbass than the majority of modern component sets. The most important thing you can do is properly deaden and seal off your door so it acts as an enclosure for them. If you just run them free air on the door panel, the backwave will easily reflect and cancel out midbass frequencies.
Second most important thing to do is feed them gobs of power. 100-150x2 watts should do the trick.
Welcome to the Phorum! I think you are officially the easternmost Canadian we've got here

Thanks guys!
I was only bolting those speaks in and, retarded me, thought it would be that easy. But apparently not...
I know Dyna-mat... Pro or expert or something is probably the best way to go, but I'm on a lowly privates pay and don't think I could afford major quantities of it... any other good substitutes for a bit cheaper?
I'm going to be running a PG ZeroPoint Ti series ZX475 for the RsD's, would 75Wx4 suffice?
I might have another amp that is more wattage... got a Recoil 1320W 440.4 RMS... says the channel power @ 4 ohms is 80Wx4 and at 2 ohms is 110x4. I kinda know about ohm-age, but need to brush up on my skills i guess... with these, would I be able to hit 2 ohms? or would it be better to stick with the PG Ti?
Thanks for the welcome guys!
Cheers

second skin is what I recomend but I think fatmat is a little cheaper. Do not go stupid cheap as you will pay for it later when you are peeling off the few remaining parts that are still sticking or melted into your carpet.
Funny avitar for sure.

what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
I've read through the second skin docs and vids, not actually to sure what I would need. I'm assuming damplifier and spectrum? Def more towards my cost limit though. Thanks for the quick reply/assistance.

So, dynamat or similar in the doors should give me the same result or would it be preferred to have it with it's own boxed enclosure, behind the panel?

Lol actually, I think I may start a thread in the proper group, because I don't want to be clogging this group up, I know on other forums, they don't like that and I def don't want to be getting a bad rep on this one.

its not really neede to start aanother one. I thought I was the only one that liked putting mids and woofers into enclosures and always got flamed for it when I suggested it.
I have noticed gaines in output when you put a solid complete layer across the door but still not as good as with a regular enclosure. I make mine out of tupperware and then stiffen them up with some more sound damping.
