Need a new HU suggestion

Post by mr tibbs »

Well, since the wife (or a puddle) did away with the Saturn and we got her a new car, it's finally time to do something with the FJ!! Currently I have the Kenwood HU that I got from Wakeup installed (XXV-01D), but to be honest I have never really got along with this HU. I have used nothing but Pioneer until this HU and I really don't know how to use it. Thus I am not getting my all out of it. So, my plan is to sell the Kenwood (any takers????) and get a newish Pioneer.

My problem is that I have been out of the loop for quite some time now. If you miss a year in this business it's a small lifetime and I have been out for at least two years. I'm needing some help catching up. Last I remember the Pioneer 880PRS was all the rage and looked great to me, but they seem to have disappeared.

So, looking at the new head units available I would like a few things in my new to be HU. First, I have finally given in to the man and bought an Ipod so I need Ipod control. Second I need a customizable EQ. The Pioneer Premier 860mp I had installed in the Saturn had a customizable EQ and I have had a hard time living without one. Third I need at least 2 (preferably 3) RCA outs. Sometime in the future I might get a wild hair up my ass again and go back to active (doubtful).

As for the rest of the system I think I will keep it the same for now (Ultra comps up front, Onyx 200.4 amp, Exile slim sub), but I'm thinking of a way to work in the 12" RSDC and replace the Exile sub.

So, any suggestions??? Has anyone tried the new Pioneer HU's?? Looking on the Pioneer website I am thinking about the 7200HD but I'm not sure if it has a customizable EQ???

Im getting rid of it because i got a eclipse 8v dead head deck, it has 2 custom 7 band eq settings, I never used an ipod with it (i have a second gen 6gig ipod mini that doesent work with anything  )

On the pioneer website it says it needs an adapter but all other searches i did says it does not need any adapter? I used the usb input to play aac files off thumb drives and was happy with that.
