basically it comes down to material. Bss cube is a booster on a certain freq (spread across a specified bandwidth) where an epicenter will reproduce what it assumes is thecorrect notes. This apparently comes in handy with older recorded material (think classic rock) that does not have the bottom end that todays mics can pick up. So it will 'fill in' whats missing. If you listen to anything recorded after 1985, go with the cube.
