Where should I put my flag pole?

Post by Eric D »

I know this is a pretty lame thread, but neither myself, nor my fiancé can decide where in the yard to put our flag pole.

We have had a few ideas which I have shown below, but are open to suggestions and opinions.

Please feel free to take the first photo and draw some ideas on it of your own.

Thank you for your help.

Flagpole3 is my favorite, it's out of the way, but still central to the house (if that makes any sense). Nice house btw. I like the color scheme.

FP2 covers the front door, and FP1 is hidden because it blends with the house.

Flag pole 3 is what we were both most interested in. My only gripe is I need to make some sort of a stepping stone path or something to get too it. Number 3 is also pretty good, as it can be seen from the road the most.

I like the last one too, the first and second ones kinda block views. They also looks a little odd in those areas IMO

Wow, homes in Michigan have a lot of land. In so cal, we are only about 10-15 feet from our neighbor. :x

Well we just use a side mount on the house near the front so everyone can see. The mount is non obstructive, and lets use use it for other things. Poles are kind of a drag as they get in the way a lot, and serve no other useful purpose other than flying a American or state flag. And pretty much by themselves they start to get ugly after a while, not with the flag mind you. But most people don't obey the law surrounding flying the American flag.

So a simple side wall mount works for us here in Cali. Good luck on your decision, as it will last for a while with a full pole setup  :)

I say 3. Looks nice. Have you picked out a pole yet?

I have a Sunsetter flagpole in my yard, and have been very pleased with it. It is aluminum, comes in 3 or 4 different colors, and has no ropes, the flag clips to it and you raise the pole up and down. I lit mine so the flag stays up day and night, but it is nice not to have to mess with tying the lines when you do want to move the flag up or down.

Anyway, you can check them out online.

My parents bought us the flag pole last year as a house warming gift. I am finally getting around to installing it. I think it is made by Annin.

I don’t need a swastika on a flag pole, that is already painted on the garage door.

I'd say out in the front yard on the right of the tree.

i think # 3 is the bestspot. however Eric can you post up a shot of the left side of the drive way...putting the house and truck in the center /right side of the photo?
It might look better in a spot on that side?

Btw nice looking house.
