M25 a good tweeter amplifier?

Post by ShockTherapy »

Wassup guys. The 2 Soundstream Reference 300 amps I got on Feebay are DOA so I'm in the process of getting my doe back. I've sourced a BNIB Reference 300 that I'm picking up tomorrow that replaces one of them. I was curious... I have that cherry M25 that I've been stashing away. Is it a good tweeter amplifier? I'd be running my CDT DRT-26A tweets with it (if I decide to use it). maybe this could save me some coin instead of trying to source another Ref300? I realize that a lot of you are biased towards PG so some real honest opinions would be great. I'd like to get my hands on an old SS Class A 50 or maybe a Class A 6.0 but I need to make due with what I have. So I'd be running a Ref300 on midbass, Ref300 on midrange and an M25 on tweeters? wadayathink? or should I just bite the bullet and source another Ref300? This is frustrating as hell! All my work and the F'n amps are blown!

The M25 is a fantastic amp for tweets, but if you ask me, matching is more important ;)

Yeh... never mind on the M25. I just got lucky and sourced a Reference 300 in Mint condition for $75 shipped! wooohoooooooooo! :metal:

The M25 goes back in the "Amp Dresser" for now. Now hopefully everything goes smoothly on returning my DOA amps. The guy seems to be cool about things so I'm not too concerned.

Thanks, I was wondering on using the m-series in an active set-up. I was worried the M25 may be a bit low on the power range...

it depends on who asks for me. If I am at a show then yes my car is open and I am happy to demo or answer questions. There isn't a kit with in 2 miles of my house that knows that I can install or have a system though. These are the ones you need to watch out for and why you do not bump yer stuff close to home.

I used to bump all over town everybody here knows what I had/have. I used to tune in my driveway the neighbors didn't mind if it was early still.pretty hard for me to hide what I had from the kids when I was the installer at the best store around.

I try to keep a lid on my stuff. I live in a gated community of condos. The groundskeepers come every 2 weeks and it's a team of landscapers. When I'm out there workin on my shit I catch them tryingto see what I have... I walked up to one who was overly curious and asked "may I help you?"... he was like "watchoo got in there?some bangin shit huh holmes?" I first laughed then kindly told him to keep his eyes on the hedges. My truck was screwed with a few months back and now the alarm is set even if I'm only going inside for 5 minutes. I take no chances now... I've got a decent amount of coin into my stuff and the thought of some shithead stealin my stuff makes me ill. I opted for security screws to mount my gear. I wish I could go back to the future on their ass' and hook up 1.21 Jiggawatts of electricity to my door handles, lol.

I have never had any stereo stuff stolen but I think that is because of the way I operate. An alarm was always the first thing I installed in a car and I always got the best with all the bells and whistles. I know if my trucks alarm goes off that everyone will look to see what is making all that noise, but that is mainly because of the tornado siren. The stang doesn't have one but I do not get it out as much as I do my truck.

same with my vehicles I always had the alarm with all the bells and whistles installed before any audio gear went in I use security screws on my gear(sometimes I put a dab of hot glue in the head too just to make it take longer to take a screw out.) The horn also goes off with the siren and I also have 2 small interior pain generating sirens installed too, those make your ears bleed if you stay in the vehicle long enough. I want to get an air train horn for my next alarm that ought to get some looks. Since I hated wiring alarms the other installer would always help me put in alarms and I would build fiberglass stuff in return for him. I almost always remove the dash completely and put the brain somewhere impossible to get at without removing the dash again and even a very good thief would have a hard time finding an alarm wire in my vehicles. Plus my shit is always parked in a secure alarmed garage overnight and really there isn't a lot of stereo theft around here anymore as they just break into businesses and houses instead. I haven't installed at a retail shop for almost 10 years now and people still ask me when they see me Aren't you the guy with all the PG stuff?

Sorry we kind of hijacked your thread here.
