As I shared some info on another line we are working on, I thought I would share some more. Quick background, we have a "SuperSub" in the Xcon. A linear, high Xmax, high end SQ sub woofer that can take some power, but does not need mega power. Some customers who were a little lesser experienced with that level of power, were occasionally going well past thermal and design limits of the Xcon trying to get crazy numbers or blow out their windows. Now the Xcon is built to take some serious abuse and the big time output is a by product of the design. So to answer the demands and take a step into a new market segment, the new Zcon is the result. The Zcon is a compliment our Xcon. In the past we were working on this driver with a different design, but at the time decided to push forward on the Xcon. A VERY brief idea behind the Zcon driver is:
The Zcon is a serious daily driver.
Not intended as an SPL competition sub woofer, but can be used to compete with.
The answer to people putting way too much power to the Xcon.
Higher xmax driver with brutal output.
Still very blend-able for laid back listening.
Capable of face shredding output with out being overly peaky.

We will release specs when everything is set in stone and we move to production. Price is not set either, there is a massive amount of steel in this driver so we need to work some magic with the numbers. As for time line, not too far as we have had this one going a little behind the scenes. I fully understand that many PG faithful won't have a desire to own a driver like this. So this topic is more so Brian and Tom's continued support of our tiny little brand and I know people enjoy seeing the process from time to time as the big brands don't do things like this. As for the daily driver aspect, we are not going to be going into the pure SPL competition driver any time soon, it opens a world of problems. We are doing our best to reach across as much of the high end sub woofer range as we can. Aiming to have 6 lines in total all said and done.

Well the Xcon is the musical driver that handles some great power, but some people were pushing it past that. So we had to build an all out ground pounder that is still a daily driver that will take the extreme abuse past the Xcon's limitations. This Zcon is not finalized yet as my ears are the last word in a way. I have a little arsenal of amplifiers that I use to test drivers. One of my all time trusty's is a little 240 watt US Acoustics (ZED) amp that really seems to show me some real traits of the drivers. Anyone can throw gobs of power at a driver and have their ear drums over whelmed, but I feel it is taking the extra step to test very low power in addition to high power as music is dynamic and few occasions will the Zcon really get the full 2000+ watts. Plus I never want us to have our name on a driver that is just so disgustingly inefficient that it needs stupid amounts of power to preform. Meaning, I want someone, lets take Tom for example as I have a feel for his taste in speakers a little, I want to be able to have someone like Tom say; "Hey, I have this X600.1 what driver do you suggest?" and I can honestly respond with an array of options instead of being locked into one choice from our line up. I can honestly say currently, all the way up to the Xcon, as plenty of people are or have run less power then what the example X600.1 amp puts out. I know we are not the brand for the majority of people out there, but more so for the DIY-enthusiast. Sorry for the ramble.
