it may cost a little to ship but at least no one will screw it up. what is wrong with it? there are several guys here that my be able to tell you how to fix it.

Yes still working. Both fuses inside good and they both turn on with remote power feed

maybe it just a bad solder joint at the rca connectors. the rear inputs feed the sub and the rear channels.

not really. The way the rcas are solderd to the board on those if you do not pull them straight out you can flex the entire mount that houses both rca's, and flex the solder connections enough to not make contact and build some resistance. THis would be easily diagnosed by some technical taps on the connectors and a quick touch up with a soldering iron...
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

yup, something I learned in tech school and been very helpfull.
power up the system and just start tapping on different areas of the amp with your finger tips to see if you can isolate a certain area of the amp with the noise. If you do not get anything with your finger tips, use your knuckles and knock on it a little harder. Again I would start at the rca's and see what happens but you would be amazed how much you can diagnose by just tapping on it....

I did tap around but will try again had it shipped to me it got beat up the corner of 2 heat fins bent. I had 1 of these years ago when new and a son of frank. When I did demo's for new england car stereo shops. So building a 86 Capri and onky have a M50 and wanted the rte 66 again.

where in mass are you? i am in vermont (exit 1 coming from mass on i91) and thinking if you were close enough we could put on bench and see if i/we could pin it down... i have some equipment that we could use to do repairs if not too too sophisticated...? and may have the parts needed or required to fix here in shop... maybe a viable suggestion for starters../?

Check +/- 15V on rear part of the M44 board(any OP amp pin4 to ground and pin8 to ground)

I'm going to make trip to Vermont for some help. I might put the rte 66 and a M50 up for sale any ideas what to ask?

Depends on cosmetic and working condition and if they have had caps changed or not. Post them up after you get the rte 66 repaired it would be a good idea to change the caps in your M50 to if they haven't been done already. Matt could probably change those pretty easily for you and add an extra 1 to the M50 as it has 3 from the factory but there is a spot for a 4th one.xxtrpr wrote:I'm going to make trip to Vermont for some help. The M50 I've owned since new never any work done to it and its been in my closet for prob 10 year hooked up other working perfect. I would rate it 9 out of 10 cosmetically. The Rte 66 I just had shipped from Australia got beat up in shipping probably 6-7 out of 10.

On the M50 you should still change the caps no matter how much it's been used. They are known to leak with age and are a very easy change if done before they leak and possibly catch fire. It's just preventative maintenance for the old PG amps, Matt likely has the caps there to do it and the caps aren't that expensive, I think the last ones I bought were like $2.48 each probably cheaper now. Matts a pretty good guy he will let you know what you should or shouldn't do. Selling the amp with the caps done gives buyers piece of mind espescially if they don't feel comfortable changing caps themselves. Just something to think about if you're going there anyway to have the rte.66 looked at. Of course you have to ask Matt what he would charge to do it and see if he even has the extra time to do them too.

I worked some OT lasr 2 days so i can leave early tomorrow maybe 10-11 and probably 2 hour ride.
