want and need ideas mk2 jetta 1986-1992

Post by kg1961 »

Guys Im going to keep my 1992 MK2 jetta so i would like some ideas. also if you have pics of any jetta installs send me the pics or links

Things i know:
Im going to use my clarion dvd tv deck (installed)
2 or 3 pld1 depend if i use 2 or 3 amps
back up camera
6.5" clarion rear fill for moive that can be turned on and off with the deck
1/2 din center channel clarion speaker/amp for moives that can be turned on and off
lpl, ti rmd
dd10 to wire it all together

now gear i own:
xenon 400.1
x200.2
2 x100.2 (just need to pay for)
mb quat 51/4 mid/tweeter
mb quart 3 way old school comps 6.5,4,2"tweeter and xover
jl 13.5 shallow sub --needs .75 sealed
focal 38kx spl sub -- needs 1.50 sealed
2 soundstream 10"spl dvc
2 1 farrad cap
fair amount of fuse holder mini wafer, glass fuse ect

it sounds good right now with the 51/4 and soundstream but Im missing nice mid bass and lows off the old 10"

Would like to see pic of vw installs to get some ideas 8)
I was thinking make custom door pods to hold the 6.5 and have the 4" and tweeter on the floor in kicks
or large door mod to hold it all ?? ideas

as for the trunk Im thinking making side panels for the amps , the sub in the spare tires area or on the back wall with the dd10 looking at you. all flush under plexi or the wood cut and the amp item behind it

I know some of you guy have mad skills and would like to start with idea to get he ball rolling
I don't need to store anything in the trunk but it would be nice if i could put some bags or something in the back if needed

I can fiberglass if needed but hate it  and the would have to wait till it gets alot warmer

let me know what you guys think and pics. love to see some more euro pics of mk1-2 or 3

trying not to buy more gear just using what i have
I listen to rap dance things like that loud clean is what im looking for. like a clean 130-135db

post what you think pics and ideas
thanks again
Mike

Sounds like you already have more than enough gear. You just need to figure out what is the easiest/best to install. Unfortunately I am not familiar enough with the Jetta to offer a suggestion in that department.

Hmmm, from memory...

Put some tweets up high on the sails firing at the front window. Customish, but should not be that hard.

4"ish mids to take the stock dash mount location. X100.2 for these comps could easily use your MBQ stuff here.

6.5" midbass for the doors, this gets custom. I think stock was 5.25". Get some ridiculous mids like Anarchy's. Then power them with the X200.2

Also consider the Eclipse 3 way setup like here: http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/foru ... hp?t=61614 Very nice for the price! Very nice for double the price! The mid and tweet can be separated, don't let the pictures fool you, the double mount is just for convenience.

As for the sub, X400.1 of course for power... I would run a single 12" or two 10"s if it were me. Then again I would also go to more powwa (x600.1) and a big daddy long stroke sub (SSA? or Ascendant Avalanche) :)

FWIW I would use your 3 way MBQ crossover (should be bi-ampable) and run the front stage through it. I like the crossover slopes on these. should be 500/5000ish which is NICE! Again x100.2 and x200.2

I will not even discuss the rear. Maybe run them off deck power.

I hope this is semi helpful :)

I don't want to buy anything new....
yes the door are 51/4" so modding will not be that hard the dash would need more of a mod as it only hold 3.5"
Im not usre yet if the mb are by ampable the speaker will be at matt soon.

As for the sub I like the jl 13.5"or focal
the focal when i used it was suprisingly fast like a very very loud clean 12". it doesn't hit as low as most 15" but it will hit the 32hz no problem.

Amps.. I own the 400.1 so i will be using this or the 200.2
if i use the 400.1 for sub duty i will use the 200.2 for the fronts
the rear speaker are off the deck and can be turned on and off with a menu option.
for watching movie you really need rear fill to sound right. the center channel has it on little 40watt amp that i will adding a switch to turn the remote on and off

Anyone have so cool pics of vw doors or trunck installs

Obviously your's will be left hand drive as opposed to right hand drive like mine, and mine's a golf, I expect it will be very similar. Here are a couple of pictures of the front end I've just done, I used Ascendant Audio Havoc 7" mids and the tweeters they supplied which a I believe a Seas Prestige.

I'm now running a pioneer P80RS headunit and currently just a single Ascendant Audio Arsenal 12 in about 1.8cuft ported. Did you want more pics of the front or the rest. The rest is currently just thrown in the back so I'm to embarrased to take pics of that. I am planning to finally do a tidy boot install, but can't decide what to do. Initially my thoughts were 2 Arsenal 12's but ported it won't leave me bugger all boot. The reason I haven't had a boot install for the past 6 odd years is I was always doing db drag as well so was constantly testing the spl box then put the normal one back in again.

No worries, if there's enough light when I get home I'll get a few more for you, mine is also a 5 speed although you can't see the clutch, hopefully I can get a better angle that shows how much room there is between the accelerator and pod, it's tight but easy enough to drive with. Mine had a big plastic loom cover there prior so I removed that to make room.
I also made a new bracket for my hood release that moves it up above the accelerator pedal and has it rotated 90 degrees

Here's a few more, hopefully they give you a little more idea of how I have mine, excuse the mess in the console and under dash, also the crossover you can see is a temporary fixture, it will be gone soon.
