that would be the least of your problems.... Do you use your computer for online banking? Do you have your passwords to your paypal/bank stored on your pc?

no i dont have that stuff stored on my computer, but even so a quick scan reveled that it "mirrored my security system" so i guess that's what they do to get into you computer to steal your info, im doing a full scan now.

I came home one day to find my girlfriend that I was living with at the time really pissed off in front of my pc. I guess I got into something I shouldn't have and there was a strange icon on the desktop, something about a tit and a clit. She wanted to know what I downloaded so she opened it up. That of course sent my pc into a strange set of screens where nothing would work until she unplugged it. I told her I wouldn't put any crap like that on the desktop and dear god why the hell did you open it>!? We eneded up doing a complete scrub and wiped out all the shit she had been working on for her biz she had just started and of course she was pissed at me, like I opened the screen of death.........

Never click on link you are not sure or, or that fowler posts(with out first finding out it is safe from some other sucker on the phorum

).

Yep, it's spambots. Pretty much entirely automated.

The best way to alert us regarding spam is to click the "Report this post" button which is the exclamation mark in the top right of each post.

i wonder does the google bot or yahoo bot have anything to do with spam or is it something else, they just seem weard to me.

You'd have to ask Tom because he's been more involved in the changes but it looks like the more advanced spambots target phpbb3 more aggressively than phpbb2.

They use google/yahoo/search engines to find sites to spam, all programmatically.

Yup. The tools are better, but so are the bots
