Ti12dElite Box Building
Ti12dElite Box Building
I have three (3) Ti12d Elites going in to the back of my SUV. However I only have 46" of width. I need to make the smallest boxes possible and I know that each sub takes up 0.2 cuft.
I have found two documents on PG website for recommended Gross Volumes for Sealed Enclosures (States that they include driver displacement). One says 1.25 cuft and the other says 1.0cuft.
Which one is more accurate? And should I use polyfil?
thanks guys

Here is an excellent article about dacron-polyester fiberfill
Even gives ya some tests preformed, the amount used and the amount of benefit from different amounts of polyfill
http://web.archive.org/web/200104102352 ... fiberfill/
For a 1.25 enclosure I would add a stuffign density of 1.50 lb/sq.ft per sub

Have switched to Home Audio:

in the manual it states
sealed 1.6cft musical inc displacement
sealed 1.0cft spl " "
i want musical but have been told that 1.3cft would be the best, can anyone verify my findings as im about to build my fibreglass enclosures
sorry for highjacking your thread culzero

i would build it bigger but thats me...
let me know how it sounds.
Hmmm, I'm doing all I can to save my Ti Elite. What about a 1.8 cu.ft. enclosure? Which should be 1.6 cu.ft after displacement.
for you i would recommend to port that bitch...........str8 up
2.5 tuned at about 32 and i know you wont be concerned about saving anything........

You may have subs in your car........but my doors sound better!

I think anyone of those choices of amps will be fine.
if you do the dual amps set up make sure you level set your gains the same way.(voltage output must be the same from both amps)
thats how im gonna run my ti elites. four ms2125s to a pair.
now if you go bigger on the box its gonna change the sound
bigger will play deeper, but you have to becareful because your car will boost your low end naturally. i would stick with the 1.5 sealed box
if you want more extension on the lower end.
if you port this sub it will be more effecient (tuned low and it will be a
low bass monster, may not be good for some of ya.)
tune maybe around 35hz to 40hz will give some kick where most of the music is at and you will still get some low end out of the sub.
but it will be very strong around teh tuning so make sure that you know what you want from the sub.
ill sum it up for ya
if you listen to hip hop, rap, and regular music i would tune a little higher for the extra ripple you will gain from the enclosure.
if you want it to be smooth go sealed(with the natrual roll off of the enclosure and the cabin gain of car it will be the most balanced output)
but if you want more low end output then sealed go ported tuned at around 28 to 30hz.
it will still have a small gain but it will shift to the lower end of the spectrum.
guys if you do this low end ported box tuned low and put in some low bass tracks it will dump.
it all matters on what you are expecting out of the elite 12d
if you wanna know what im doing im gonna do mine at about
2.75 ported at about 30hz
i may go alitte larger to shorten the port length since i wanna use about
a 100 square inch port.
yeah im nuts......................aloha.

I would like to do ported for my three 12d elites but I don't have the space. The dimensions I have to work with are about 46"W x 18"D x 16"H. So I am limited on what I can build. In my opinion I will have to build three sealed enclosures @ 1.25 cuft gross sharing common 1.5" thick walls.
Another question I have. Has anyone ever inverted these subs. You know mounting the speaker with the magnet out of the enclosure.
If so, can you tell me how to do it without damaging the surround and include pictures if possible.
