We (SSA) have loads of emails asking about our Icon, which is currently out for redesign and prototyping. So as always, I suggest the RSDc, Fi Q, or IDMax as excellent options. Well the purpose of the topic is, I have an email (who I suggested to come over here, but he said he is not a forum guy) and he is asking about if he went with the RSDc where should he put is high pass and low pass at. I have played with the RSDc, would not be suggesting it if I did not like it, but I don't have any screw-around tuning time on it. So any quick suggestions for what people are currently using and the enclosure their RSDc is in? I don't get the feeling his mid's are going to go much farther down then 70/80hz, and clearly if he goes ported the low pass setting will be effected.
I ask as my preferences can be some what different and I am not actively using an RSDc to give an accurate suggestion to his question.
It can handle any range pretty good. I'd say the frequency would depend more on the quality of his front stage than the sub itself. Obviously wouldn't recommend higher than 100, but 70-80 is definitely a nice target, if his midbass can keep up. I personally dropped my crossover to 60Hz after deadening my doors.
