Crossfire CFA 404s

Post by Bchester6 »

I've always wanted to try one of these amps out and it just so happens that one is available locally for about $70. Mint condition. :) They just remind me of the PPI art series in looks but performance?... can anyone comment?

not sure I would go that far as they were not all that expensive to begin with and it is 10 yrs old now. I could give 50 for it but at 70 I would not expect to get your money back out of it if you needed to sell it. Not a bad amp but they were basically just half a step above entry level as far as pricing.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

These CFA amplifiers are what set Crossfire apart from Paramount Audio. These were some pretty decent amplifiers and a good step beyond Entry level.

I got to work with them briefly at one shop before I graduated and moved and they were ok-good but nothing amazing. They were priced well is how they made a name because it was good quality for the price, but they didn't break the bank.

Then again at the time our goto line was pg ZXti and in comparison, ok-good. I pulled a couple out that had issues that were beat on pretty well at high volumes but if you don't buy an amp that can handle that you run the risk of magik smoke.

I got it for an install for a friend. He has an Toyota Prerunner extra cab and has never had a system before. I'm thinking a great way to introduce him subtly into the mix... we all know where it goes from there. Anyone got any suggestions for a sub to bridge off the rear channels? I'm thinking very efficient (high sensitivity rating) around 250 watts rms handling. Boston Pro 10 or 12? Holler if you got something.
