Specs on the PPI flat piston pro 10

Does any one have any info for this PPI sub?

Specifically dimensions, power handling, and recommended enclosure sizes

I can't find jack using google and DEI/PPI web site is crap

A downloadable manual would be perfect

I have ~20 drivers to choose from in my DB for PPI however they are pretty bland across the board. The known quantity of it being a 10" drops the options to <9.

ok, I did some research...
Would it be safe to say
400~500 watts in a sealed .5~.75 cu. ft enclosure?

I know those things take quite a bit of power to sound right. Twisted just built an enclosure for a flatpiston 10, but it wasn't a pro. He might know the specs though. Shoot him a PM.

That woofer is a PPI Pro10.

It is rated for 300W RMS, but Alma Gates managed to give her 64 drivers 700W each, and I don't think she had any failures.

I highly suggest a large ported box for that woofer. A small sealed will have no output.

these are great sounding subs.........
i still have my pc10. i will say this thing does not like large sealed boxes!!

if so if you go sealed .5-.75

but like eric said
they do like ported enclosures best!

I put my Pro 12s in a small sealed box, and they sucked. I put them in a large sealed box and they also sucked.

Finally, in a large ported box they did well.

I think the +/-5mm linear excursion has to do with some of it.

I might have to build a test sealed enclosure to see if I like it first

Some woofers just plain work better in a ported box.

I have heard plenty of woofers in plenty of situations, and I will say that a PPI Pro in a ported box will outperform countless other subs in sealed boxes, for SQ applications. And, as a bonus, they are pretty damn loud with enough power and an optimally designed ported box.

OK, this was my original plan:

2 of the PPI subs wired at 2 ohm mono, powered by the ZX500 section of my Reactor in a small sealed 1.25 cu. ft. enclosure fired into the cabin.
What do you guys think? Any output at all?
I was thinking about a slot ported enclosure tuned to about 45-48 hz, but I don't want to deal with a large enclosure. Also, due to a wedge style enclosure (to minimize space), its simply a pain in the ASS to build a ported enclosure.

But due to the negative sealed enclosure options for the PPI's, I thought up a few more options...

My second option is to use my old school round Kicker 10" solobaric installed in the same fashion as the PPI subs, but only one in a .5 cu. ft. enclosure

My third option is to use my Crystal CMP10 in a ~.5 cu. ft. fiberglass inclosure in the corner of the trunk. I can't mount it firing towards the cabin b/c its too damn deep. I'll probably get the most bass using this option.

I also have an 12" IDmax V.1 that I bought from my old shop and used sparingly due to its freak-of-nature size. This sub will probably stay in my closet for ever....until I decide to sell it of course.

You guys see a theme here???

I haven't been saving/buying up old school stuff just to look at.

If you don’t like bass, the PPI Pro setup would be perfect!

Actually, I personally suggest you make a few test boxes and set them in your car to try out first. You might be happy with the 10s EACH in a 1.25cuft sealed box, but ported would be far better.

I might have to roll up my sleeves and build a slot-ported enclosure for one sub.
