New guy with questions

Post by Nat Glick »

Hey,
New guy here. Recently I put a NIB AudioControl System 90 Model 48 amp in my Escort powering some elderly door speaks and a vintage, original Obcon 10.1. This necessitated digging through all my boxes of vintage car audio crap and finding lost gems that I will likely never use.

I came across some Phoenix Gold amp shrouds that I have never used/installed. I got them on eBay years ago, and they aren't doing me any good sitting in the basement!

One is for the M-series amps--the white end caps that match the profile of my M100 amp.

The other is for an MS-2125, is white in color and is complete with gold Dzus fasteners and 3 fans.

Any ideas on what these things might be worth? Anybody looking for either of these?

Thanks for the input!

I seem to remember that the shrouds for the M100 had a sheet metal part that covered the heat sink. I will have to dig a little deeper to find that thing. Who knows what else I might find?

That's what I was hoping to learn from you guys! I'd obviously like to get top dollar, but I don't have any idea what a reasonable price might be.

What do you think?

Thanks,

OK guys, it looks like the MS shroud is sold pending funds. I still have the shroud for the M100, so make an offer if you would like it. The M100 is not for sale at this time--sorry!

Hello I'm also new, just signed up. I repair car audio amps and own a small business.
I have a few amps PG amps come in and one is a MS2250. I was wondering if that
MS2125 cover you have would fit the MS2250? If it does and you still have it, I guess
give me a PM about a price. Thanks. Hope to make some friends on here as I get PG
amps in from time to time.

The MS2250 is longer than the MS2125, so the shrouds won't interchange. I just sold both shrouds, so you'll have to keep an eye out for one elsewhere. You could try running a WTB ad here or start a thread and see what pops up. Click here for the old PG webfaq with amp dimensions, ratings, etc for lots of old school PG stuff. http://webfaq.phoenixphorum.com/

Good luck!

Actually they are the same size... 2125 and 2250 heatsinks are compatible ;)

You need to buy a cover from the same era though. They changed the way they mounted the transistors on the later amps with a clamp bar, rather than individually screwing down the transistors.

My bad, I thought the 2250 was longer. I was just going by the dimensions on the FAQ:

Dimensions, MS2125, MPS2500
17.0"L x 11.4 "W x 2.4"H

Dimensions, MS2250
25.5"L x 11.75"W x 3.35"H

That's the dimension of the shroud, which was sold with the original MS2250's. The heatsinks themselves are identical.

I want pics of the NIB System 90.

Always wanted one, but I'd never use it.
