What box should I use for some SS10R's?
What box should I use for some SS10R's?
I got two new SS10R's awhile back from a friend that used to work for Soundstream. They are brand new. I want to build a box for them and was wondering what I should build for them. I have built a few sealed boxs in the past and they have turned out pretty good. I was thinking about building a ported box, but wondered what people have used with these subs in the past and what they have had good luck with. I will be hooking them up to a Soundstream Rubicon 805 sub channel. Here is a link to the amps manual.
http://www.soundstream.com/manuals/AMP/ ... 405805.pdf It says it will put out 300W 2ohms at 14.4
I'm wondering if this sub channel will be enough for these subs?
Thanks

Re: What box should I use for some SS10R's?
i had a pair of the 12s back in the day and i think i had them in about 2cuft each ported. they dont need much power. those are bad ass subs they are called velvet hammers for a good reason.
Re: What box should I use for some SS10R's?
I am excited to get them into my car!! I have heard of that nickname before too. Do you think I will need to put bracing in the box too? Never done that before, but I also have never had 2K watts before going to some subs either.
Thanks

2k I don't think they will handle anywhere near that.
Re: What box should I use for some SS10R's?
No I just meant that for box building. I never have done it in the boxes I've built. Cause I never have had a 2K watt system before either.

Re: What box should I use for some SS10R's?
I looked a little and found people recomending 1 cubic ft per sub and sealed and maybe poly fill. Again dont run 2k to those subs at the most 500 per sub and should sound pretty damn nice. GL...

With only 300w, I would recommend a vented enclosure to boost efficiency. Of course you will have to live with a larger enclosure and that's the trade off. Bracing is always a good idea and can only help improve performance so why not?vwguy3 wrote:I got two new SS10R's awhile back from a friend that used to work for Soundstream. They are brand new. Yes I am only going to be putting about that many watts. I am NOT going to be putting 2K watts to these puppies. I was just saying that I have never put bracing into a box, cause I never have felt the need to cause I never have had 2K watts in a system that I have owned. I think I am leaning towards a ported box for the subs.

Thanks a lot for the box designs. That will help out a lot. What other designs do you have? I also have a single SS USA10 sub that I was going to build a box for.
Thanks
