Great subs with more low end than you could ever want. 600 watts to each sub is a good amount to feed them

great thanks man. I want to do a full xenon system. have all the amps and comps now. just need the subs. was going to get just two 12" xenons, but one 1200.1 will be too much for each sub right? spec on the xenon 12" is 500rms and 900 max.

The only issue with the Xenon series is that the components lacked mid bass, and so did the subs. The subs are the deepest playing car audio subs I have ever heard, so the 12's really need to be crossed over at around 50-60Hz. The midrange however is 80-100Hz at best, so that leaves a bit of a gap. You might want to consider dedicated mid bass... perhaps a set of 6.5 mids with separate amplification, or a different speaker if you can hide it. Otherwise i'd probably suggest you go with the 10's instead!

well my set up I plan on is one set of 6.5 xenon and one set of 5" xenons in the front doors. I have two 200.2 xenon amps for them. then two 1200.1 xenon amps for my subs. I was thinking of four 10's insted of 12's but I dont know. maybe 12s and then do some 8" in the front kick panels? not sure if xenon had 8s or not, but I could hide them with some grills

Sadly they didn't make an 8" Xenon. I gave my step-dad the 6.5" Xenon comps that I had and he loves them. They play low enough for him, but he's not a true audiophile like some of us here. I actually miss them a bit. I was eyeballing a set on ebay until an amp came up that I wasted 0 time on buying. Not enough funds left over at that point to get the comps.

I know it doesn't really mesh with your all Xenon setup, but swap your comp's with RSd's and your setup will be golden.

Xenon subs?

Post by 00goobs »

I have 2 10" PG subs, but don't really know what they are. They are silver with the blue LEDs. Do you have a pic of your 10s? I don't use them and would love a new set of RSD 6.5cs in trade if they are the subs you want. I believe there are a few more on CL in Houston...

Never mind, I think they're Octanes...

well I already have some custom boxes made for 12" subs, but I would love 4 tens since the xenon comps dont have much mid bass. my tank is going inside the car this winter so I will have more room.

i can assure you from my many sad trials that the 10's dont span the midbass gap any better then the 12's. i had ti elite 6.5's in very deadened pods on 200 watts...and i still didnt have midbass to span the 60-80 gap :(

also what size are your custom boxes? its not even worth installing the 12's without at least 2cf each. i found my 10's sound best at 1.4....

xenon's like huge boxes. thats the trade off for insane low end

here's the trick with getting midbass from xenon mids...run them active. the passive crossover makes them sound very attenuated compared to the tweeter. when you can adjust them independently, you can get some very good results

great info! thanks!

I dont remember the size of the boxes. they are deep though. I found two 10 xenons localy and another set about 8 hours away and he might ship, so I can do some boxes for them and start new. Dont really under stand what you mean about the comps and running them active. I just wire them from the amp to the speakers? sorry this is my first real install by my self. always had others wire my stuff up.

That's what I was going to say. These are one of those rare sub's that don't change the freq range just because of the size. 10's, 12's whatever. They are low end monsters.

They're sort of close to me. I might be interested in the amp if you want the subs.
