new subs, how to incorporate them ideas please

Post by Captainchaos »

Just found a pair if ti12 subs, the single coil ones rather than the ti12d's. Having only ever ran a twin voice coil single how do I wire these up with the kit I have. A ZX350v2 running comps and a ZX600ti which was running a pg10'' sub. Do I run them both off the same amp? do I put them both in the same box to work together? ask this as most ready made boxes for a piar of 12s seem to have an internal divider so each sub has its own air. Really no idea on this one, so any help would be great. Hope these subs are okay not being the twin coils

Thinking about this is that why they make single coil versions to run them together? or is there another reason? :!:

the voice coil configerations are for nothing more then to get the most out of your amp. Some are good at 4 ohms mono, some 2, some lower yet and matching your sub to your amp is important.

The only real advantage you get out of the divider is that if you blow one, the other will still be safe. That is not to say that there are some sonic differnces as well but the chance of you or me being able to A - B a system and tell the difference is not likely.

mixing diffent size subs normally isn't recomended. Not to say it can't be done if all you want is spl but you would probably be better off with one, or the other.

thanks for the reply, so you think if I wire it up with the zx600ti running both 12s that will work?

yes the zx amp can do 2ohm bridged they will just run a little hotter just adjust your gain and you will be fine

Great, thanks for the message. I will use the zx600ti bridged to run both then, think its enough power? thinking also if I buy the ready made twin 12 sub box I could cut away some of the internal box divider to allow cable from one sub to the other, will this help them work together better?!

here is some info on your subs if you have not seen this already

most prefab sealed boxs are not 2.35cub sealed with drivers (this is just rounding number for drive displacement)
