Help adjusting an old Phoenix Gold XS2300

Post by ingratius »

I have an old XS2300 hooked up to my amp. I notice that the bass is just too low. Even conversations have a booming bass to them. The Kenwood deck is set to zero for Bass.

I know there are adjustments on the back of the AMP but I'm not sure what effects what.

Any suggestions on what I should be messing with and what to leave alone?

Here is that I can adjust on the back of the AMP......

Crossover Frequency adjustment
Config Switch
Subsonic Filter button
Input Sensitivity
Twin-T Bass EQ

This is the manual with pictures.

the "twin-t bass" should be all the way down.

subsonic should be ON
config switch should be set to LP (which can be 2 setting depending on if you are using the aux out) either have it turned all the way counter clockwise, or turned so its straight up and down (vertical)

crossover frequency should be set to your own taste and sub ability. between 60-90 is a good rule of thumb. toward 60 for more "traditional sq" and more toward 90 for more output

from there, you want to start with the sensitivity all the way down, then turn your volume on the deck until its almost at the loudest you listen to it. then go back to the amp sensitivity, and slowly increase it until it is at the level you want it to be at compared to your speakers
