I am building a little home system with all car audio parts and I have a chance to get a pair of kicker impulse 10's for 40 bucks. Do they sound good at all or should I keep looking around?
Any other opinions on small subs to use for my little project? I only have about 140 watts to work with for a pair of subs. Space really isn't an issue but I do want to keep the subs at 8 or 10 inch. I just need a nice clean sounding low end, doesn't have to be super loud. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
Has anyone heard how kicker impulse subs sound?

i used them back in the day
if you use one it will have some good sound off 140 watts they were a avery sub but being older they don't need alot of power to get louder
imo they were a small step down from the jl10w1 again i used both with my v2 m25

Do you think the Kicker impulse subs sound better than jl w0v1 10? I had a pair of those 10's awhile back and they sounded pretty good on 250 watts.kg1961 wrote:i used them back in the day

they do sound good some people like the sound of jl and some don't. these subs are not low end monster but for $40 and the low power your going to use they are nice
these are the black one with purple writting on them right?
I love jl sound there a littel bump at about 60hz. now i have gone to focal k2 series. yes they are alot of money but these sub are very very fast. so to make up some volume im going a 16" selaed 2.2 and have 700w rms on tap. I love the 15"spl i had just was not super loud like a good 12 imo

Yep these are the black with purple writing on them. They seem to be in pretty solid condition too for their age. I like jl sound as well. They make good equipment. My friend has a JL w6v1 10 and it rocks! I had to refoam it for him but it was really easy to do.
I have heard great things about Focal products, but yes they are pricey! I have had a couple of different 15's and like you said, a good 12 is where it's at for the sound.
I currently have a Boston Acoustics G3 12 in my car hooked up to a Ti 400.2 at 4 ohms and it will definitely turn some heads when the bass is kicking.
