12volt power supply
12volt power supply
Have a chance to pick up a 35 amp power supply (40amp peak) for pretty cheap. Its got variable voltage (9-15v I believe). Just want an idea what I could run off this thing if I were to do a home setup? Eg.Would it power a zx350 @ 4ohms mono? An Alpine MRV1000 (2x 30amp fuses)? What is anyone else using for power supplies?
Re: 12volt power supply
that would depend on what you were planning on running, alot of pg amps will suck that current down like it was nothing. The only problem with going with too cheap of a power sources is you can sometimes get a 60 hz buzz though the system.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

It also depends a lot on what you are doing with the amp.
I have run a MS2250 on my test bench with only a 15A fuse. I played it on 8 ohm home speakers to some pretty extreme levels. The fuse never blew.
With a 30A supply, you should be able to run a pretty powerful home setup with no issue.

Re: 12volt power supply
I was thinking of running an Rsd12 off an Alpine MRV1000 (600wrms). That way I could build the huge ported box it needs and use it as a tv stand as well. Just a thought. Gonna grab the power supply either way, just to have. Thanks guys!

I actually just bought one of those power supplys on eBay for 67 bucks. It's a great little unit with no noise issues. Good luck with your build!

Here is a bullet proof power supply, the same one as circuit city had on there sound boards, audio authority 2/77 hybrid,50-100amps @13.7v (rock steady) by itself, hookup a big battery like a mkpower, stinger, odyssey, kinetic etc and its good for 300 amp bursts of like 5 seconds or so 100 amps cont. I have 2 paralleled with 2 pretty big 80 pound 105ah mkpower batteries out of a badass electric wheel chair, go figure.lol.. you can find them on ebay every now and then for around 100 bucks and they weight about 50-70 pounds each! freakin huge caps in to!
im looking for 2 more cause i want to build a rig to test big amps output with huge dale resistors, im wanting to test from .25 - 16 ohms..
great quality so if you see one snag it up!
