Cobalt 230 one ohm bridged WOW!!

Post by bassman »

I thought the m25 would beat it hands down but it got very hot quite fast, the cobalt ran alot cooler and had a noticeable amount of power over the m25..

even though it probibly wont die, seems like 1ohm isnt really a fair fight for the m25.

WOW indeed. That's called amp abuse where I come from. I hope this isn't a permanent install, because you will just cook a nice amp to death.

M25 is 2ohm stable bridged. It will shut off from overheatin or overload if you go any lower with the impedance.
It would sound better 4 ohm bridged too.

If you like low impedance sports, try a MPS2240 or MPS2500. They will handle virtually any speaker load.

I know it's not PG, but my all time favorite <1 stable amp is the LANZAR Opti50c.

But ttocs beat me to it, You think it got hot then, wait til the heat of summer hits......

I am just playin around with stuff that I have been collecting over the years, My new 50 amp adjustable power supply was put to use on the bench for this.

I will always remember the day I bought my ms2125 after the guy showed me it running every sub in the store !! I think it ran 2 10' 2 12's and 4 15's at less than an ohm bumping the clip lights and all was good till the light fixtures started falling out of the ceiling..

That 2125 ran 4 12's for years and never a blown woofer unlike the 4 sets a summer with alpine power. those were the good ol days!

if it the old school cobalt like my old cs150.2 you will fire that amp asap i has a hard time with heat at 2ohm bridged
i guess the pg is made to stop it from cooking but the orion will end up being a great paper weight for you
not many a/b old school amp are made to do 1ohm bridged now class d is everywere but most are china made crap

i would still love the m25 over the orion
most of my gear is gone :liar:
