what to do for power....

Post by bassman »

My system is looking like it will have 1 1000.1 r series, 500.4 r and a m100 , the 1000 into 2 12,s at 1 ohm the 500.4 running 4 6.5s and tweeters in the kicks and 4 6.5 coax in the rear so it will see 2 ohm at each channel, the m100 will run 8 6.5 midbass in my doors so again 2 ohm a side.

not sure on the power draw but I want to make sure I have a good amount of it.
My bug has room for 2 batteries under the rear seat, I am also wanting to run a 110 volt power supply so I can listen in the shop without it running so I was thinking about a couple of 70 amp power supplies to do this and from my past expierience with car audio shops that I worked at this will work.

my question is this, what should I use for batteries, will just regular parts store 12 volt batteries work as good as the sealed or what about these agm batteries???

I used to run 2 2125's with 2 group 31s and a 100 amp alternator with no problems years ago, then caps were all the rage for stock setups and I never saw an improvement with my system running 6 1 farad caps so I took them out, I did use a half farad cap on my deck for reasons that I dont want to get into..

I'm pretty smitten with my Deka Intimidator right now. In the US you can also get Sears DieHard Platinum, which are rebadged Odysseys, at $hundreds less.

Beyond a single good AGM to replace stock, unless you want to run a large battery bank, you should definitely upgrade the alternator.

yeh. Dont forget also that Orielly sells rebadged dekas . I went this route so I had a warrany on my battery that no matter where I went I cold get it exchanged.

look at the fuse ratings on the amps and you will know how many amps you need to plan for. 95 is low still so there might be some planning needed. As they said get a bigger battery first, then the alt and then you can consider adding a 2nd battery.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

I say get more alt. and get more batts. Then you can forget about it.
Deka's are sweet units for a good price.
screw car audio, I'd rather go fast....errr, wait a minute.
