Misinformation

Post by nutxo »

I was talkin to a dude today and it came up that I run my fronts full range with the passives. I was told by this genius that all the passive does is block bass and that I still need to use the crossover on the amps or in my deck,..

I keep having people tell me all kinds of weird shit these days. I heard a guy in a shop tell a customer that his amp kept shutting down because his impedance dropped because of the box.

some people know everything. Alot of people know nothing. alot of people know everything.... Sometimes its hard to tell the difference and sometimes you are mad that they are using air that you may one day need.

Maybe he meant a subsonic filter would help?
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.

nah, He specifically said the passives were just to block bass... I was like,. well yeh,. like a crossover.......it was a lame conversation and I feel more stupid for havimg talked to the person.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOhhh. Speaking of subsonic filters. I was thinking of using an fmod on my Mmats and then I realized a basscube has a subsonic filter,. I mean Ill have to dig it out and hide it somewhere since its TI.. You know one of those moments where you're all like " WTF was I thinking?"

I was able to trade a Ti eq215 for a black one on an even trade(minus paying for shipping both ways). Post it up and you might be suprised.

There is a reason I was not allowed to talk with customers back when I worked at the local car stereo shop. This thread just reminded me of it...
Got "schooled" by member shawn k on May 10th, 2011...
No longer really "in tune" with the audio industry, and probably have not been for some time.
Hands down the forum's most ignorant member...
Don't even know what Ohm's law is...

there was a reason why I didn't want to and this reminded me of it.............. The ONLY reason I did sales was to work my way back to the bay where I didn't have to deal with them as much.

We have all been guilty of it at one point or another I imagine. I know I have. What aggravates the shit out of me though is people that 1) spout of shit when THEY know they don't know what they are talking about, and 2)refuse to ever, ever "be wrong," aka learn something new. I welcome being proven wrong on occasion, it means now I know something I didn't know before. I tend to keep my mouth shut when I'm less than sure about whatever topic may be at hand as I get older I notice though.

I guess I can deal with ignorance. The guy at the shop was trying to make a sale though.
