M50 or MS275

What do you think?
Should I replace the M50 i'm using for front comps with a MS275?

I'm looking to gain some headroom. When i'm listening loud, sometimes I thinks it sounds a bit harsh and distorted.
Could be the heavy metal i'm into but not sure.

Comps are Hertz HSK165 older model, highpass at 80Hz/24dB

I think Eric mentioned MS275 does 22,75V rms unloaded. That equals 130W@4ohm.
M50 is supposed to do 85WRMS @4ohm but what about headroom?

If you want a lot of headroom the zx have a ton. Or pick up another m50 and run one on each side.

the answer is very simple....

put the other amp in place and listen.....

or use your zx450, front on one side, rear on the other ( both brigded )

what you also can try, what could give a very good result , is using your zx450 active....

so front on the tweeters, rear on the midbass speakers......(front highpass, rear bandpass)

best way is trying out.sometimes it is just the combination of amp/speakers that satifies you.....

of course you can't go wrong with working with 2 M50 / 2ms275; but then you have to buy another amp.

I think if you really wanna play loud, the zx450 will be your best option. i would certainly test it out with this amp.....

I agree with the idea of using a second M50. Two M50s bridged would have plenty of headroom, plus you could run them at lower levels, so each works a bit less than the single M50 has too now.

Don't worry about increased distortion levels running the amps bridged instead of stereo. The amount of increase is not noticeable.

I was going to throw in the ms275 at the weekend. It looks like an easy swap because it fits into the footprint of the m50.

I twiddled the ms275 gain pot around to get rid of any bad contact. The pot felt kinda sticky and then I realised it just goes round and round.
I haven't powered her up to check the sound but is this bad?
