Took the first cable off, ran the new one and cut it to length. When I went to strip it I was a little confused as there was the black outer insulation, a thick white-core insulation, as well as finally a smaller black insulation(like standard wire insulation) wrapped around some rope. I thought when I stripped the last black insulation that I pulled the copper out so I took an exacto knife and cut into about 3-4" of the wire half way through, and found nothing but rope. I pulled the boot off of the other end and they had the black insulation and the wrope crimped but there was no sign of any metal inside of it. What auto-god did I piss off that I order some high-quality 8mm spark plug wires that have NO WIRE INSIDE OF THEM? I called summit where I got them from and figured I would have to send a pic to show them I was not high and the dude on their end was just as confused..... Another set is on the way, hopefully it was not a huge spool of wire that they got with no conductor in it and this set is the same way.....
The stuff around the rope is the conductor... It is a resistive wire, not a straight conductor. It helps reduce emf noise for cars with computers... The solid stuff is awesome, but bad for fuel injection, stereos, pacemakers...
did you check one of your old wires ? most wires today dont use a metal conductor. this is to keep the ignition noise from radiating out and screwing up sensitive electronics and picking the noise up thru the stereo system.
yes the old wires, as well as the instructions that came with them say there is supposed to be a coiled copper wire inside that conducts. Unless this is some kind of superconductive rope that I missed out hearing about working in the tech sector all these years then these are little more then very short jump-ropes.

Going to service both, upgrade the caps and op amps. Pretty much the same thing I did to a member's M25 a week or two ago. Once finish I'll use the 1.5X and the 3.0X, can't wait (will post pics as soon as work begins on the SA1.5X). I remove the B+ caps on my M25 and there was a lot of leakage but no damage done to the board/traces, will replace all electrolytic caps.
Got my self a new pinball game, The Addams Family. Now i got 4 games...

I missed this one yesterday. I took the old cable and pulled the boot off to find the copper coil that is wrapped around the rope that is inside of mine. Unless they have the small/middle black insulation wrapped around the rope infused with carbon, I am not sure how it would conduct. If the rope is the conductive part then I am still not sure if it would work as the end that was crimped was simply crimped around the rope and the insulation around it.

can't friggin wait! Been dyin to drop my stang since I got her but the side exhaust skirts on it hangs down below the frame. Because of this I have seen more then a few with the skirts broken because of this and they are hard to find and expensive to replace. I was wondering how I was going to have my cake and eat it too and found this a few months back and been chompin at the bit since.
Talked to the shop today and got the ball rolling on it. I am going to mount the tank/compressor/valves so I can know where all the wiring is to not interfere with the stereo and then have them finish it off as well as weld in sub-frame connectors and some hangers for the exhaust tips I need. Also going to flush the digital control into an overhead consol, should look perty cool I think. The other half of the overhead consol is going to hold the 4 SDT displays can't wait to get started on it.

Sorry I've been away for a bit. Work is picking up and trying to spend time with the family and money on myself. When the last item gets here I'll have to clean it up and post some pics.
For fathers day my family got me a nib set of OS LANZAR TSW tweeters from ~'95, and I found a PPI Sedona APA430iX listed as nonworking/parts only. When it arrived I opened it up and the board looked good so I powered it up. Works perfect. Paid $26 shipped.
Just did an impulse buy on a PG Sapphire 1.5x amp for $60 shipped. Said it was benched before listing it. It's in rough looking shape, but I'll clean it up best I can.
Till then....

I was scared I wouldn't win this auction when I saw it. But luckily, I won!!! I only wish it was a 4 ohm. Beggers can't be choosers and I love this thing. In mint condition for a sub that's 18 yrs old. LANZAR LP10-8
I'm undecided if I'll be putting this in the wifes car to pair with the Opti160/Opti150????? Probably just keep it in the closet with my 10" LXR.
I think I can now give my friend back his two LP12's. He has an LP12-4 he said he might sell me. I'll have to look into that. Along w/a Eclipse ECD-415.....

Found on ebay a few days ago & had to snatch it up, NIB even. Came in the mail today so I thought Id share.
Been hunting for one of these for a while now. lol
I need to post a pic of the old PG 165A alt I got. Probably going to go with the belmar voltage regulator that someone on here suggested and will post pics of them both when I get the regulator. The alt is just a big solid chunk oh metal though. Will try to snap a pic a little later.
