Re: Phoenix Gold Elite.5 5 Channel
Morgan, How does the Elite 5 compare to the Ti1600.5? On paper they seem to have similar power, distortion etc. The only area where I see a large difference is in the length, the Elite seems to be 5 inches shorter. Is the power on the Elite class AB channels a little higher (100 watts RMS versus 100 watts "dynamic" power)? Have the components been upgraded? Thank you in advance as this amp seems to have what I need for my new car. JPS

The Elite amplifiers feature only the finest in audio components such as Burr Brown op-amps, Monolithic signal capacitors, and dual-package Sanken output transistors. This result is unparalleled sonic performance in a mobile audio amplifier. The sheer breadth of the Elite amplifiers' dynamic range conveys a musical realism that transcends standard amplifier designs. With seemingly unlimited frequency response and smashing dynamic range the end result is the finest sounding amplifier Phoenix Gold has ever built, period. Oh yeah, they are also built like a brick house and drive low impedance loads without breaking a sweat.
From the phoenix gold web page.
Everything inside is better. The ti line is nice but the elite is better.
And I don't see the .5 being any different. It is a combo of class a/b and d for sub duty.

Re: Phoenix Gold Elite.5 5 Channel
Morgan any reasons why Nichicon, Panasonic or Elna caps were not implemented in the elite amps?
The only brand part in the elite amps I would question is the CapXcon condensers. This from my PC building days http://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?p=39119.

Re: Phoenix Gold Elite.5 5 Channel
I've decided that I want to build my system around this amp. When do you expect it will be available in the U.S.? Only reason I ask is because it isn't on the PG main site yet, and I'm looking to start gathering gear in the next week or two.

That's where I'm at too. If it was out, seems like they'd have it on the site.Drock wrote:So who has it? I'll take one. Weird that it's not on there site yet.

Re: Phoenix Gold Elite.5 5 Channel
it has not been officiall released yet I think it was delayed a little bit at this point the dealers do not even know much about it.

Re: Phoenix Gold Elite.5 5 Channel
Elite.5 is shipping now.
Usually we ship new product in January to March time frame, but we were a bit early on this one.
Elite.5 definitely makes more power than Ti1600.5. Both are good amps, but Elite.5 has more headroom on all channels as its much more conservatively rated. The front end parts are also better on the Elite.5.
No changes to the Elite speakers, they have been very well received and we are doing well with them.

any chance we can get an idea of current consumption on this sucker?

Re: Phoenix Gold Elite.5 5 Channel
Normal listening - 20 to 50 amps
Hard Listening - 50 to 100 amps
"Bass MechaniK" Listening - 75 to 150 amps
Use an 1/0 power wire and most stock electrical systems are pretty close to keeping up.

so mix it with another elite .2 and would an old-school phoenix gold/wrangler 175 amp alt and kinetik 1800 battery keep up?

Yeah, but the power specs on the Front/Rear Channels are listed wrong.jpswanberg wrote:Elite 5 is up on the site. Thank you kind sirs.
F/R: 100 Watts x 4 Channel / 1 Ohm
F/R: 150 Watts x 4 Channel / 2 Ohms

Can't wait to see some pics of one installed. Who's going to be first.
Just judging from this Phorum, PG is going to sell a tone of the .5's

Re: Phoenix Gold Elite.5 5 Channel
For all intents and purposes, it's really 2 amps. A 400 watt 4 channel Class A/B, and an 1100 watt mono class D. Couple that with the ridiculous SQ specs this thing has, it is hands down the best 5 channel on the planet, on paper at least. I was never a fan of five channel amps because usually they're only 300 or 400 watts on the sub channel. When I was planning my system, my wife said she didn't want me getting something that would go "boom boom", so I told her it would just be a little system with one amp, and a couple 10's or something, no big deal. My last system was 2 amps and a pair of 12's, so she was satisfied with that explanation. I don't think she has any idea that this one amp has roughly twice the power as both of the amps in my old system. I keep reinforcing the fact that the two sets of Elite.65 door speakers are going to cost more than the subwoofer system, so it isn't a "boom boom" system, and she'll stay off my ass.Drock wrote:Can't wait to see some pics of one installed. I'll be posting a review of mine when it gets put in.

Watch out with that statement! I replaced an Audison AV5.1K with the Elite.5. Still working out which is better..................... At least better to me. If you are not aware of the AV5.1K features, take a look. Take note the A channel is class A, not class A/B.Kirghiz wrote:

AV 5.1k, 1650 W (RMS) max, five-channels: with its hybrid design, it is the specialist amplifier for front + rear + subwoofer or multi-amplified front + subwoofer systems.
Its high-quality AB Class output stage provides two channels with 250 W (RMS), combined with another pair of A class pure audio channels rated at 75 W (RMS), perfect for active two-way front speaker systems.
The D Class mono section provides 1000 W (RMS) for an efficiency and powerful subwoofer output.
Power Output
Load Imp. 5 Channels
4 Ohm 75 W x 2 + 140 W x 2 + 600 W x 1
4/2 Ohm 75 W x 2 + 140 W x 2 + 1000 W x 1
2/4 Ohm 75 W x 2 + 250 W x 2 + 1000 W x 1
AV bit IN
Digital interface for all AV amplifiers. It offers one AD Link and AC Link input as well as one AD Link and AC Link output for a perfect digital connection with digital processors (bit one and bit Ten D) to drive a multi-amplified system.

Yes but PG Elite.5 looks and sounds bad ass. (Because all the elites are)
Installing mine next week.

Re: Phoenix Gold Elite.5 5 Channel
I was more or less talking about the distortion specs, not the power, and the Elite.5 does have better specs than the Audison. Now how that translates to in-car sound, who knows, but on paper, the Phoenix Gold should be be the better sounding amp. I've never heard either one, so the statement was really just about the specs.evo9 wrote:Watch out with that statement! I replaced an Audison AV5.1K with the Elite.5.
