Elite.1 amps
Re: Elite.1 amps
That doesn't change the fact that it will be making 5,000-5,500+ watts rms into your 3200 watt rated subs.

I never said i was going to do it. It was just something i wanted opinions on. I am buying the amp. Going to run at 2 ohm and probably buy different subs later on to be able to use the amp at its full potential. the TI2 1300s are pretty pricey. Nice amps though.
Re: Elite.1 amps
I apologize then. Usually when someone asks this kind of question, and then everyone that posts says "OMGNO!", and the poster keeps hinting that he is still considering doing it, usually they do it anyway.stylez12321 wrote:I never said i was going to do it. Compared to a used Elite.1 for $800, the Ti2 1300's probably are pricey. Compared to a new Elite.1 though, they really aren't at all.

Re: Elite.1 amps
Price dealer is supposed to sale for is $650. I can get them a little cheaper due to dealer sponsor but still not worth it when compared to even a new elite.1
Re: Elite.1 amps
Based on absolutely nothing since I have never priced them, that seems high. You can get an NIB SD1300.1 on ebay right now for about $500 shipped from a dealer that I know is about $50 high on everything he has. Aside from being hideously ugly, the SD1300.1 is basically the same amp.stylez12321 wrote:Price dealer is supposed to sale for is $650.

Re: Elite.1 amps
I have to say that I am a bit surprised how well the Elite line is doing considering it is really the first non-limited-edition amp line to push the prices that they are getting for them. But with two Elites in my own hands somehow it almost seems like a perty good deal....

Re: Elite.1 amps
Well if you take a look at othe brands with the same size amps as the elite.1 the pricing is pretty much on par.
Re: Elite.1 amps
yes but even still with the economy the way it is and the way car audio has been going the past few years its still a bit surprising to me to see how many people have them already or are willing to pay the cheddar for them. Prior to this for PG to get a grand for an amp it was a limted edition series not just a regular production line. Happy to see that its working out though and really can't wait till I get to see if mine sounds as good as it looks.

Re: Elite.1 amps
Interesting fact that the underrating they did on the elite.1 is that the 1 ohm rating on the birthsheet is 28% more but the 2 ohm rating is only a 4% gain. Birthsheet for the 1 I am buying says 2507 @ 2 and 4103 @ 1 ohm. Amps rating is 3200 @ 1 and 2400 @ 2.
Re: Elite.1 amps
At two ohms that amp will run you out of your vehicle pushing four 15's. But, yeah I tend to think they just flat under rated the 1 ohm power for a reason. Maybe to make it match the Elite 12's, and to encourage folks not to try and drive them on a competitor's 2000 watt amp, I dunno. Every birth sheet I have seen is around 2500 at two ohm and 4100ish at one ohm. Really, it doesn't make a lot of sense that power would only increase by 33% when you half the impedance like rated power states, but when you see the birth numbers it's more in line with what it should look like.stylez12321 wrote:Interesting fact that the underrating they did on the elite.1 is that the 1 ohm rating on the birthsheet is 28% more but the 2 ohm rating is only a 4% gain. The Elite amps are arguably the best car amps in the world though. Just embrace what they do and enjoy it.

Re: Elite.1 amps
Even wiring at .5 ohms, I doubt the amp will ever see .5 when taking box rise into consideration. If you have the proper electrical to run .5 daily, I'd say you can get away with it.

wha? Box rise? If you wire it at .5 ohms, what would the amp actually see then, taking box rise into consideration?

Re: Elite.1 amps
It varies depending on frequency and box design, but is generally highest around the tuning frequency of the box. Unless you are building a burp box for SPL competitions it isn't something you need to worry about ever. In this case, he's probably right, the amp probably never would see 0.5 ohm because of it, but using the same logic, it will probably never see 1 ohm when wired to 1 ohm, or 2 ohm when wired to 2 ohm either. It's all relative, and the engineers know these things when they test the amps and determine the lowest stable impedance rating of the amps. That being said, if you put a 600 watt rms subwoofer on an amp that makes 1200 watts at 2 ohms, and count on the fact that the amp makes 600 watts at 4 ohm, and box rise is going to take the reactive load from 2 to 4 ohms to save the sub from blowing, you're a fool.ttocs wrote:avalanchels wrote:Even wiring at .5 ohms, I doubt the amp will ever see .5 when taking box rise into consideration.

It's a pointless bit of math that ends up being more work to chase than ends up being worth, and only really comes into play when you are burping one frequency for max SPL anyway.

Music is variable though. It may drop below.5 on certain notes and may rise to 3-4 ohms on some.
