THIS OK TO DO? 2 dvc subs - one 2ohm & 8ohm
Don't really want to run a solid 1ohm on the sub channel ... and not quite 2ohm.
Is it OK to use one dvc at 2 & the other 8 ... on line impedance calc says it comes to 1.8 ...
Is there any harm doing this?
A pair of DVC Alpine typeR 8" subs is my plan...
Thanks

Don't quote me on this but I think if you run them like that then you will have 2 put them in different chambers cause the power difference between the two could harm one of them and its usually the 1 that's getting more power from what I hear

Hopefully others will chime in ... thanks broke
Re: THIS OK TO DO? 2 dvc subs - one 2ohm & 8ohm
If you did that, the speaker wired for 2 ohm would get 4 times the power of the speaker wired for 8 ohm. So, no, you cannot do that unless you want one speaker to be a heck of a lot louder than the other.

It will be funny to watch.....one sub pounding harder than the other...but both subs hooked to the same channel. I bet that would confuse the shit out of teens. "how the heck did you get that sub to be much louder?" Reply "i fed it steroids." LOL.

So, for the sub ch ... Ti1600.5 ... 2ohm all in all my best route so as to not run the amp so stressful?
OR, does running it at 1ohm with the gain held back better and not effect it so much?
Duh I feel.

That amp is fine at 1 ohm.damo4833 wrote:So, for the sub ch ... Ti1600.5 ... 2ohm all in all my best route so as to not run the amp so stressful?

Being loud without good sound quality is pointless, but having good sound quality without being loud is also pointless.

Was hoping to hear 1ohm being ok ... [Tis better to have a fast car - ready and WITH the right gear just in case a pink slip is at hand & ready to snatch!!!]

Not quite the same but back in the day I got a deal on some Bazooka triangles.3 10s and a 12. Iput them all in one big box with individual chambers. All wired to a 4ohm load. Sounded pretty good on 300 watts but you could see the difference. The 2 10s wired in parallel worked good but the 10 and 12 wired in parallel worked funny. Depending on how I had it wired either the 10 would pound harder than the 12 or the other pair of 10s and the 12 would barely move or vice versa.Never caused any problems though. Wouldnt want to do it that way again. Didnt care much at the time only having about $125 invested in everything. It was worth the experiment.

I know a guy that had a Kicker SS12 preloaded box (2 12's + 2 horns) running off a Radio Shack 85x2 amp in the back of a station wagon. After a while he blew the horns, so he opened the box up and disconnected them, and then added an Altec 15" PA cabinet to the system. I think he had the amp bridged to 170 watts with the 12's in series to 8 ohm, and paralleled to the 8 ohm PA speaker to make a 4 ohm load. As one would expect, the RCAs were run down the middle of the car over the back of the seat, so passengers in the back had to watch where they sat or they'd unplug the splice in the cables (I think he had two 10' cables).zztunnell wrote:Not quite the same but back in the day I got a deal on some Bazooka triangles.3 10s and a 12. It was pretty lulzy.

The speakers were cancelling each other out which is why its not recommended to run multiple subs on the same freqs.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
