Tested the scope on my home stereo and it worked perfectly...I am going to try the fresh 50 Hz I just dl-ed and see if I had a bad signal.

I still am concerned about the protection mode I kept getting when I hooked up the dmm, you guys want me to start a separate thread for that?

Is it a portable DMM, or a bench top model DMM (run on batteries, or on 120V AC)?

Wow I am a dumbass on two levels this time around...and I have worked with the dmm before...

I hooked up the probes wrong on the dmm to test the amp acv...And on the oscope, the sine wave made a huge difference...I got a consistent wave. My headunit doesn't clip which is cool, but now I have to charge the oscope and go back out to double check my line driver voltage.

On the dmm though, I can't figure out why I am not getting a read off of the line driver output...I cut an rca last need and separated the pos and neg, and that worked great for the oscope, but isn't working for the dmm.

don't mess with the meter now that you have a scope.

Thanks for all of the responses guys, sorry most of my questions came out of a poor sine wave  .

I scoped the headunit and found that it doesn't clip which I was glad to see.

I relied on the 8V led's on the line driver since I had some trouble getting a good voltage read at the line driver outputs with the scope.

Then I scoped the amp at 25/35 headunit volume, of course when I sat and listened at my normal volume levels, 16-20/35, I ended up turning the gain up a bit since maximizing my amp output at a headunit volume I don't listen at was silly : )...so the scope and the ear were a good combination.

I am glad I picked the DSO Nano up, great tool to have.
