Should I upgrade my alternator or add a battery?

Post by Tony_jr_LGND »

Im really a noob to car audio and need to know whether i need a new battery\alternator, im putting an elite 12 powered with an rx1100.1 (heard the minimum power it required was 1000 watts, plan on upgrading further down the road to the ti amp) , im getting two sets of ti 6.5comps and powering those with an rx400.4 , and im going to put one of the alpine cde-hd### headunits(not sure which one yet) , and an audio control epicenter, im still in hs but i wanted to buy quality product and wanted to go all out (for my budget range lol) on my first system

You should be fine with the big 3 upgrade on normal every day driving. Just make sure you set the amp not to clip

make sure they don't charge you up the ass to do it its very easy and cheap to buy the small amount of wire needed
I have yet to do it cheap suv 4 banger and I have not had a problem running 1000 watts 2ohm and 100x2 4ohm I listen to a lot of rap so I use the subs and speaker like clean volume

I wonder what it sopuld cost anyways, but ive gotten pretty decent deals so far, elite sub for 250,epicenter for 100,rx1100.1 for 250, and i got qupted for the rx400.4 for 250, and the 2 sets of ti comps for 450(installation included)

If they can't do a big 3 for you then I wouldn't let them install anything else either. It's pretty basic stuff. It should cost $50-75, certainly no more than $100.
Being loud without good sound quality is pointless, but having good sound quality without being loud is also pointless.

Nah theyre legit they installed a custom phoenix system for my godfathers show truck back in like 2000, they put 4 15'' XMAX subs, and had two ti amps in a plexi case that rolled out under the seats, i forgot what model the door components were though,
(Someone bought the truck and is in the process of shelling out 20,000 for a new memphis audip system and i couldnt get my hands on any of the old pg gear :( )
