Post by ace_ventura069 »

my name is anthony and i live in belgium. i bought a xenon 1200.1 amp 3 weeks ago with a ported enclosure
with 2 impact audio 3715 dvc subwoofers.

i made some pics of the amp and sub wiring
now the subs are wired each to a terminal on the enclosure and from the enclosure each subwoofer goes to a terminal on the amp

hope that someone can help me because i think they are wired wrong i have good bass but it could be louder i think

i only use one power terminal on the amp is this enough?

here are some pics

How are both subs wired (outside the enclosure....inside you can tell they are wired in parallel mode)? What do you mean by one power terminal?

Are those subs rated at 300watts RMS EACH? You might be overpowering them or expecting too much from them. That amp does 1200w from 1ohm to 4ohms so I would try to stick with the highest load possible. 1200watts at 4ohms equals 140vac peak to peak....so careful not to touch the output terminals or speaker terminals when its at full blast.

Each sub is wired outside to a + and - connection to the amp.
I uploaded 2 more pics on dropbox to see the connections outside and on the amp

If im Wright now the are @ a 2 ohm load? Shouldnt they bey @ 1ohm?

They are rated 440 rms each but ive been told they can handle the power from the xenon amp

With 1 power terminal i mean that i use only one positive and negative with remote connection to power the amp

Am not familiar with the 1200.1 but if it has two B+ and ground inputs then BOTH SHOULD BE USED. That's the reason its there, that said I doubt it has dual B+ and gounds but if it does then use both.

There's nothing wrong with having a little head room, so even if the amp is rated at 1200watts you can always set the gain a bit lower and have headroom.

If you have each sub parallel then wire both subs parallel you should have a dc resistance of 0.8-1ohm, thats if they are 4ohm dvc. If they are then I would try wire each sub in series then wire the both subs parallel that will create a 4ohm load, much better for the amp.

it does have duel power terminals. at 4ohms its ok to jsut use one, but any less and you will want to run dual 4awg to it.
the 200.4 has this feature also

when they first came out people were trying to use it as a distribution for another amp
my ex-girlfriend said "its car audio or me"
i've had tougher choices at a soda machine...

They have dual power connection but The guy i bought it from Said That one whas enough and That the other one whas to connect à power cap.

My subwoofers are 4ohm dvc

i just wired my dual 4ohm dvd subs to a 8ohm load each because the xenon amps is wired inside paralel so this woul give me a final load of 4 ohm to each sub.

i made some pics of it so could anyone confirm me that i wired it correctly please :D

is it normal that when i use a dmm tha the coils say that ther are @ 5.1 ohms?
because now the sub is @ 9.9 ohm instead of 8ohm i also made a pic of the dmm

thanx
