sub box question?

Post by kg1961 »

I have 3 jl tw3 shallow subs dvc 10" subs
I will be running them in series to a 2.7 ohm load
now with building the box(sealed) should I make separate chambers or just have it braced
the sub box is only going to be 5.5 inch deep long and wide
lmk your thoughts
also if you say separate why what would the benefit be

thanks again

With 2 not as big of a deal but with 3 you should individually chamber them. If not the air pressure tends to focus on the middle one and make it fail before it's time. Hope this helps

If you are running a mono amp to power all three subs you should have no problem having a single chamber. If you had sub on individual channel's then I'd would say you'd have problems.
And it's not like those subs are 60mm xmax moving a shit pile of air anyway. And you are not using a ton of power either.
I'd say try a single chamber.

Adding two separating walls is worth the trouble, they will make the box much stiffer.
If the woofers are wired in series, chances are they will have uneven output, so separate chambers is a good idea.

I'm assuming the woofers are dual 2ohm. I would wire the coils in series and the woofers in parallel for a final load of 1,33 ohm.

The subs are the newer jl tw3 dual 4 so I will have a 2.7ohm load
I can make the walls not a big deal
But I remember jl make a single box with 3 8ohm driver in it they only had one chamber no problems?
