octane LE finish maint?
octane LE finish maint?
Not sure if it was the heat of phoenix or some other reason but I have had the issue that the carbon fiber finish lifting/peeling for a while now. There is one small section that came off and a few other edges that its lifting. I would like to do something to try and prevent it from getting worse, not sure if I could just do a good clear over it all or I even considered having that clear plastic they put on bumpers and the front of hoods on cars to prevent chips? Anyone else noticed this on theirs or have a good idea of how to help save it?
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
Re: octane LE finish maint?
If mine were peeling like that I'd have it stripped and covered with real carbon fiber. If you remember a while back someone was selling ti amps that had a cf coating...I think it looks much better, less boy racer looking. I'm not willing to strip down mine though which is nearly flawless in it's finish.
A few of these and a few of those.

It wasn't actual/real carbon fiber....am sure it was that hydrographics.

yes I think it was hydrographics as well. Its not just a carbon fiber finish though as there is a pg logo cut into it. Its not bad enough at this point to say screw it and strip it all, trying to keep it from getting to that point.

Oh, that could be right. I've seen car interiors that were wrapped in actual carbon fiber. Enforce, I guess I assume that that's what was done there.trickyricky wrote:vwdude wrote:If mine were peeling like that I'd have it stripped and covered with real carbon fiber. Either way, hydrographics would work or real carbon. I'm not really a fan of making something look like something when the real thing can be done (ie, hydrographics and vinyl carbon fiber)

Re: octane LE finish maint?
For a while now I have wanted to skin the center of my roof with carbon fiber and think I finally talked myself into it. With that idea came the thought that I could do it to this amp. There is a logo cut out of the cf on it now that I would probably need to make a decal to do, but I would probably use it as a stencil and paint it on. Any opinions on what this would do for the value? I mean its no longer original which sucks but if I did a good enough job on it I would think it would definitely be better then the stock finish half chipped off, or some other random color painted after it comes off.
Also anyone else want any pieces skinned?
