dd has very good box designs right on their website. i have yet to go wrong with one of them. by the way, none of the dd subs are recommended in a sealed enclosure. if that's your only choice maybe research another brand. not saying it wont work sealed but its not recommended.

That sucks they state this on their website:The 200 series is hand built for high performance. Keeping overall system economy in mind, we designed the 200 series to have high output on as little as 100-300 Watts. The laminated double layer poly cotton spider in the 200 works well in sealed enclosures and compact vented designs.

When i put the nr in the calculator i get that its not suitable for closed box and size on ported is anything but small but i think im getting it wrong anyway the works well in sealed seems to be wrong like you said.
I cant find a calculator in the dd audio website and the boxes they got pictured are square boxes im using a small round box, i have tryed different calculators but i cant get it right i get 154 liters vented on one of them.
The winisd program from linearteam.dk seems to do nothing i get a graph and no innput boxes anywhere i pressed everything on it but nothing happens.
Thanks for the help guys :-)

On WINisd, click in the top left "NEW". In the window that opens, click on "OWN DRIVERS" and then "NEW" right below that. From there, a window will open to add your specs. I looked and out of the hundreds upon hundreds of drivers that are already in the database, yours isn't there. That why you will have to add it.

It's not hard.

I dont understand the graphs on win isd and i do not got all the specs of the woofer filled in as they are not listed in dd audio site, i tryed to post but they are in bmp files.
I need something that tells me if i can mount them vented in a small box like im using im hopeless with these things and i have never done it before.
What happens if the box is to small i have read its better its to big, i also wonder where i can find info on reading the graps?.
Thanks for the help

These are the only specs you need to calc a ported or sealed enclosure. I'll enter them in my version of WINisd and let you know what I get later today.

Okay thank you vey much, can you chech what box it should have vented and sealed, and what i "lose" on using a 25l enclosure?.
I want to know if i can use it with the box i got or if i will need another subwoofer, i can return the DD Audio to the store and get another one.

What size box do you have now? I can tell you how it will do in there.

Also.......what kind of sound do you want? Tight and accurate? Boomy? Or just a good compromise.

OK...here ya go. Look like you can get just over a 4Db gain at around 50Hz and F3 will be around 28Hz. This is with a 2ft^3 box (56.6 liter) and the port tuned to 35Hz (round port, 82mm dia. X 165mm long)

OK...here are two boxes, both sealed (better sound quality normally). One is the same size as the previous box (56.6 l or 2ft^3 WHITE line) and the other is sealed in a 25 Liter box (BLUE line). Not enough gain in either to be worth mentioning. F3 on the WHITE line (2ft^3) box is about 38Hz and the smaller BLUE line (25 liter) box is about 44Hz.

I think its better for me to find a subwoofer that fits the box im using i have already bought the box and i want to have it in my spare wheel compartment because then i still can use the trunk when we go on holidays etc.

I found this focal P25DB subwoofer, and it looks better on the graph the green line is vented and the yellow is closed both 25Liter box.

I see you're starting to figure out WINisd. Also note that you can change the box size and port tuning freq. and see what it does to the output on the graph. If it were me, I would probably go with a sealed enclosure. Other wise, you will also have to give up room in the box for the port. You can also change port tuning freq the same way but if you're going with a sealed box, you won't need to do that.

You can also change how the volume is measured by clicking on the measurement type. This is just the the right of the number. It can show liters, ft^3, cm^3, m^3, in^3 and maybe a few others.

I think you're going about this right. With a given enclosure size that you want, it's just a matter of finding the correct driver for it.

Also....try to keep the Qtc number, generated for sealed enclosures, below .9 Higher than that will start to get boomy.

I surfed the web for info about the reading of the graph and i got some info about the different graphs, the store i bought the DD Audio subwoofer from said this was the best woofer they got for small sealed enclosure.

I got another question my trunk is sealed of from the cabin but if i make two ports in the rear window shelf will that help on getting the sound from the subwoofer and in to the cabin?
I guess a portet box would be the best option but i got to work with the room i got, thank you for the help :-)

OK......Just for reference, I compared your sub and 25liter enclosure size (YELLOW trace) to what I run (BLUE trace). I think you'll be OK. My old school Orion XTR10 are better off in a ported enclosure but, I prefer them sealed (less boom).

You choice in fill will be OK as well. I prefer Polyester but either work.

It looks ok but does not the focal look better in the graph?, another thing is that the focal got dual coil 2 X 4ohm and that gives me more choices.
I will test them side by side pluss im loking on some other woofers so i will test them with isd and see what i go for, im starting the sound dampening off the trunk this week and i hope to be done with the box next weekend i also need to make a false floor over the box and the trunk floor.

Between the Digital Designs and the Focal, both in a 25 liter sealed box, they are almost identical. I doubt you would hear a difference. The Focal with dual voice coils will give some options but, no change in box design.

I found out that if i use focal 27V1 i can use a open box and tune it to 33Hz, but is there a difference with sealed and vented enclosure when it comes to getting the sound in the cabin or is it the same?.
I read that the closer to 30Hz i get in a vented box the more sq would i get, i think that a closed is easyer for me to build and less that i can screw up.

I got the box today the subwoofer should be here by monday, i started on the box i put the bottom on and put mats in it.
Does it help to use dampening mats on the outside of the box and what is best alu/butyl or polyphrene?
