So, I have pulled the install from my old '96 Nissan truck and am looking at what will probably be my last (I'm getting to old for this shit) custom install. What I am dealing with is a old '94 Ford Ranger XLT w/ a 4.0ohv engine. Below is a list of what I have to work with. Some of it is a given that I will use but other than that, what do YOU think I should use for a new system.
Given equipment -
2 ea. ~ Orion XTR10 sub
1 pr. ~ SoundStream SPL50 mid/tweet set
KLW Cathedral Enhance
Everything else -
Audio Control 2XS (xover)
Kenwood KEC301 (xover)
Orion 420GT (4ch. amp - 20w/ch w/ xover)
Kenwood KAC921 (amp)
Hifonics series VII Cupid (2ch. amp - 22w/ch.)
Hifonics series VII Pluto (2ch. amp - 35w/ch.)
Hifonics series VIII Cyclops (mono amp - 100w/ch.)
Phoenix Gold M25 (2ch. amp - 25w/ch.)
Phoenix Gold M50 (2ch. amp - 50w/ch.)
Everything has been used with the exception of the M25 and the M50. BOTH are brand new. I bought them years ago from a dealer that used them in his display case. The last install I just pulled consisted of the "given" items plus the Orion GT420 and the Hifonics Cyclops amps.
I might even consider selling the NEW M25 & M50 to buy a new 5ch. amp, provided the price was right. BOTH would be in original boxes with original paper work.
Sub enclosure design isn't a problem.
Sooo........ What would YOU do????
What to use for new install.

Thanks but, I think I'll pass on that one. I never have been a fan of D class amps on anything other than low power apps, like tweets or desktop computer speakers. In fact, I have a small Lepai amp with a TA2020 chip that I modded, powering a set of JL Audio 6-1/2" separates on my work bench. And changing out caps on the PCBs is no big thing.
The SoundStream mids/tweets can go either active or passive. I have the original passive xovers that came with them. Ultimately, if I go passive, I may drag out the laptop and plug in the measurement mic just to see what each driver sounds like, in place, and design a passive xover for them. HolmImpulse is good for generating FRD and ZMA files needed for PSDlite, which is good for designing passive Xovers.
Playing around with various enclosure designs as well. I have been running the Orion XTR10 pair in a sealed box but, they really do work better in a ported enclosure. I can get enough gain from a different enclosure for one sub, that it will negate the 3dB gain from the second sub.

Guess not. I guess I'll flip a coin.
