06 Trailblazer SS new install

Post by twisted »

my wife decided its time for some new audio gear in her SS, so she just ordered up a whole slew of stuff for it.
i am going to start by gutting the entire interior and installing 200sqft of fat mat....if it will all fit

i let her do most of the selection of components but guided her a little.she is going back with:
kenwood excelon ddx5901hd hu
a ppi a404 and a600 black art set from my stash
focal access 6.5 comps in the front and 6.5 coax's in the rear (she says the sound reminds her of the o/s quart premiums she loves) :hmm:
2x aura force 10's for low end duties.

so the hu has some dsp processing so i am going to try that out and if i dont like the sound i will be adding something different after the fact.

i will post some pics as soon as everything starts to arrive this later this week, and will post progress pics along the way.

Ppi art series and aura force. Yummy. Two of my favorite all time car audio products. Force10s? I ran a force12 many years ago and I still gauge other subs against that one.
A few of these and a few of those.

yes sir force 10's and thank you for the help finding the 2nd i needed for this

when i worked for the orion dealer here in wichita we sold them...i had a pair of force 12's and i loved them! had an hcca250 running them....pure sex right there!
these subs still hold up to today's sq subs! only thing i dislike about them is their choice of where they mounted the wiring terminals!!! you would not believe how many came back because somebody ran a screw right into them when mounting them in the box.....

i think im going to send the amps to trickyricky to get the caps replaced before installation and maybe a bb opp amp upgrade.

i did get a ton of wiring in today

i figured i would update this a little, got the floor deadened, all the wires ran.
picked up sum wood and masonite so i can get building.
the masonite will be to cover large holes in the inner door shell and will be deadened along with the rest of the doors.

Looks really good man, very clean and stealthy. Ive always had a soft spot for mdf custom installs. I guess growing up w 12v in the 90's has caused that as fiberglassing wasnt mainstream at the time!

Looks awesome man!!!!

I can dig an old flat mdf install but I did too many of them as the fiberglass era was coming around. I thnk you need a solid background in the carpentry that is needed for the mdf flat installs to start on the curves of glass but I can dig either or.
