Almost ready
Almost ready
Almost ready for the first comp of the season. I managed to get some gear installed yesterday evening.
I'm not sure what the problem was with my power last season, but it seems to not be a problem anymore.

Re: Almost ready
that's funny man but I have to laugh anytime someone posts a pic of a Jensen on the old school facebook page. I can't believe there are people out there that want to collect that line and just get wet when there is a pic of one. That was best buys go-to line when I installed there and I loved how easy they were to tune as no matter which amp/line you had to have the gain at 100% to keep up with the decks power.
what else can I say I am a grumpy asshole most of the time.
Re: Almost ready
So far so good, very happy this year. I'm still not sure what I did last year. I had problems getting power, and amps shutting down.
For whatever reason I'm not having the problem now.
I tried to take a video today. But it did not work well. I'll try again tomorrow.
But I did pretty good numbers today. I'm fairly confident I have finally reached a 150db.
However I have serious issues with my roof flexing. It's so violent and very annoying. For any one that's gone through a car wash drier with a GMC Sierra knows exactly what it sounds like.

Re: Almost ready
I would hope you hit 150.

Re: Almost ready
Thanks Scott, but it really has been a struggle. I know the equipment is capable. But I've had quite a struggle to get to that 150 mark.
I don't know what it is but 147 I can do all no problem. After that it's always been a pain in the ass.
Maybe I loose pressure due to my roof just flexing so bad?

Re: Almost ready
Scott do you have any ideas how I can stiffen up my roof?
I have not installed deadened yet. I have lots and Mike is giving me more. But I don't think even three layers will make much of difference. What do you think?

Re: Almost ready
omg that is bad... I can't believe how much movement you have
I think you will need a ton a matting but I think you might need to weld something as support

Re: Almost ready
I know. It's annoying as f$&k.
I've been working on finding a solution, and have an idea I think will work well.
I have to check the rule book though. I'm not sure how much I'm allowed to do without being put in a higher class.
Right now I'm in super street 5+. I do not want to compete with guys that have monster spl setups. This is just fun for me.

Re: Almost ready
if you have a welder or know someone that does it could be as simple as welding either some flatstock steel to the roof or maybe a pipe/square tubing if they are small enough. Obviously you would need to either repaint the roof or maybe just a simple wrap to cover the spots where the paint on top will probably get burned.

Re: Almost ready
I was thinking of a layer of deadener, then use a super strong double sided sticky tape to install a few strips of flat steel. Then two more layers of deadened.
This was a recommendation I had a couple days ago. I think it might work.

Re: Almost ready
not sure how it will hold up to the vibrations. rather then just flat steel try and find some L-shaped and it will be much stiffer. But this is all just ideas I would start by taking out your ceiling in the car and see what is up there to work with.

Re: Almost ready
Thanks Scott. Ill try to get it down tonight.
Re: Almost ready
Your best bet is to have the roof skin removed, reinforce it, then re-skin it.

Go down to Mike/gastroker. See how he had a sunroof, then he didn't? Re-skinned, it wasn't that bad either from what he told me.

Re: Almost ready
I tried to look. I just seen a pic of the car. But no link to view a vid.
