I am looking at both the Alpine PDX amps and the Eclipse EX series..
both are class D hybrids or something...
I know the Eclipse EX4000 is 91% efficient and will 350x2 @ 4ohms and run cool all day ..also has decent features
THe ALpine is a lot more for no reason I know of and a lot smaller...
I wanted to know if any of you PG junkies had tried them and could compare them to some PG gear
Mike
Any of you PG nuts use the new Alpine PDX amps or the Eclips

pdx 1000.1
loud for its size, has nothing special on it.
i wasnt blown away with it.
ms2125 sounds way better just not as loud..bigger and
still my favorite.
but i did finally listen to my friends car with his trutech copper series
amps and wow, not bad amps..just to much for me;

I wouldnt do anything D class. Every Class D I ever heard sucked big time. Now Class T is the way to go in my opinion. Sounds real nice. Doesnt have the time delay issues or the high frequency issues like class D. Plus I think Alpine amps just arent for SQ. I never heard these but I heard other Class D amps and they all sound almost the same. Slow. No good soundstage. Shallow Bass. Class T pounds. I read a review on just the Class T tripath chip. The review said the Class T chip actually sounded better than most Class A/B amps cause they said the efficiency is so high. They said the bass in a Class T is tremendous. At low volumes a Class AB amp has less control over the speaker. A Class T amp has the same control of the speaker at all volume levels. I had a Blaupunkt Class T amp. Those little plastic amps are friggin loud! And the bass was the hardest I ever heard. Plus they were so dam small. I still look for good Class T amps but they are too expensive to make cause I think Tripath charges big bucks for there License.

I sell and install Alpine products.
The PDX amps are nice, sound good, are small, so they fit just about anywhere, but keep in mind that 1.1000 runs HOT, even just sitting on our board at idle it gets very warm. Understandable too, look at the heat that is going in (current or "watts") and the size of heat sink (chassis) to dispate the heat.
BTW the early release of them, I'm not sure if this has changed or now, were supplied with 4 25 amp fuses, change them to 30 amp fuses, Alpine messed up on this one.
While the PDX is a nice series of amplifier, I would still go for somethng of a more conventional size, they just seem to work better.
I haven't had a chance to try out any new Eclipse product.
