critical mass

I have only seen adds for the gear and needless to say the prices are surprising. What is the deal with this stuff? Anyone had their hands on it? Do they really get those prices for it and is it worth it if they do?! I have read some of the gear has ranked very well in testing but its just hard to take it seriously when the prices are just stupid...

I looked into this a few years back, and I thought their prices were way high, but if you contacted them about purchasing stuff it was actually affordable. They use the outrageous pricing as a form of advertising.
