An MS1000 question...

Post by Pedi »

I did recieve an email from a PG-guy, quote:

"i am glad you did not buy that one as that was the last one pg put together with crappy parts!!!! there is no gold in there and the speaker wire is 10-gauge instead od 4-gauge! it is a piece of crap."

Is this total bullshit and a lie?

Is the MS1000TAs not good as the genuine MS1000?

the TA is optimize for putting out more power at 4 ohms bridged, where as the original is better suited for 4 ohms stereo If i remember correctly

actually the only differnce in the tow amps is that
the tenth ann
has been set to not try to dump more then about 1k at two ohms due to the limited size of the heatsink, your og ms 1000 will bang some serious
headroom but at the expence of alot more heat...so if you have a og
then keep it cool.

there is some cosmetic changes on the board mostly parts due to the
unavailabilty of the older parts....

orginal ms amps came with 7 guage speaker wires.
the later revisions came with the braided 12 guage.

the ta i think have the 8 guage wire.

there is still gold on the board.

so i dont know what that pg dude is talking about.

As I can recall, the original MS1000 could not handle 2 ohms bridged.

Can the TA handle 2 ohms bridged?

If so, I want to use it for my 2 dual-coils Stroker 18"s...

I have always dreamd of using a MS1000 (or 2 MS2250) for my Strokers, but I have always believed that they were not stable i 2 ohms bridged.

its not that the original couldnt handle two ohms but the ms1000 board is two ms2250s which were modified to crank out more poer
i rembember talking to larry fredricks when they were still working on
that there prototype was banging over 2k dynamic at a two ohm load
that is why they released it in that heat sink...(the fan shroud)

teh og ms1000 i believe was the same boards. so i if were you would run it two ohms if you want but make sure to have a stout electrical system
and keep those amps really cool.

when i run my ms2125s at 2ohms bridged i use cross flow fans to keep them cool.
good luck.
