Reparing a PG Tantrum EQ 30 is broken

Post by DezUk »

Just recently the right channel of my Tantrum EQ 30 has started to give major distortion and has had to be disconnected from my system. This has left me with no audio but worringly with no EQ :(

I called the UK distributor only to be told they do not support the poduct any more. Anyone know how I can go about getting this repaired or if it even sounds repairable ?

Thanks.

Well in the meantime, get an RCA-RCA adaptor and plug it in place of the EQ. That should at least get you some sound.

PG has flat-rate repair for $85 on all EQ-230 and EQ-232 units.

I don't know about shipping it from the UK though, you'd be better off buying another EQ-230 somewhere if you're going to add another $85 or so to the price just for shipping it around.

Well, I guess that depends on how much you can get an EQ-230 for...

I can repair your EQ but it's about the same as sending it to PG as I am in California. I have fixed a few over the years. Usually a op-amp takes a dive on these and you get a peak reading all the time. Other than that the power supply can go south on occasion. LMK if you need my help C :)
