Thus it begins, Ti6 Elite install *updated 8-16-07* pics !!

I started tonight and will continue tomorrow. I'm hacking at my original GM speaker grills that bendy clips to the door.

I'll be using the steel screen as the shell. I'll wrap it in fleece covered in resin than I'll apply body filler in areas needed. I'm undecided if I'm going to paint it or wrap it in vynal.

I'll be posting step by step pics when I get it done. I don't expect it to take but a few days.

So far I've got the skeleton done and tomorrow begins the messy fun part.

Well, I made up my mind. I'm going to wrap it in vynal.

Reason being that I have enough vynal on not enough body filler to apply, sand, wipe, apply, sand, wipe, apply, sand, wipe...ETC....

Other than wraping them, and putting them in the door, it's done.

I now see how to use those "clips" I was talking about in the other thread. I'll take a pic of them and post it when I post the rest.

Well here's the pics. The only thing I did to hurt myself this time was burn 2 of my fingures w/thw hot glue gun. And at the very too.

Wraped in fleece and ready for resin.

This is the back of one of the grills w/the fleece wrap. You can see the hole I cut out in it.

After resin.

The "clips" I was refering to in another thread. Now we see how they're used. I did have to cut part of the "clips" though. It wouldn't clear the mounting ring.

Wraped in vynal and temp. mounted the speakers.

This weekend I intend to install these puppies. Still need to find a temp place for that mini amp of a crossover.

Pics will be posted when installed.

Such a waste of some beautiful fleece!!! Looking good, someone's gonna have to teach me that fiberglassing trick. I'm going to try glassing for the first time here in a few weeks.

I'll throw as many tips as I can when needed.

Tip 1) This will explane the fleece design I chose, Go to the local fabric store and buy what's on clearance. It's going to get covered anyway.

Tip 2) Put a lot of time and $$ in the bank. You'll use it all.

DAMNIT ALL! The grills warped on me. Time to find a second set of grills. The originals were bent a bit anyway and when I added the fleece and the resin, it was all to much.

This time I'll put the fleece on the inside of the grill, hell, I might even just skip the fleece and resin and just put body filler on the grill and sand it smooth. Found matching vynal now. So I'll redo it in gray.

Oh well. A few more weeks and I'll have another go at it.

For now, they're in, but they're not seated right. The mids are, but not the outer edges of the panel. I'll tell you right now, w/a small air leak, these things are 10X better in the mid to lower bass than the Dyns were.

The tweets will be done tomorrow. Right now I'm using the RSD tweets and xover.

No rattle what so ever.

Monday my youngest starts her 1st day of kindergarden so my wife and I took it off for the kids. While they're having fun at school, I'll be having fun w/the new pods I'll be making out of foam/fiberglass/fleece and the such. I'll post pics in a new thread if all turns out well.

Pandy, you crack me the fuck up. LOL W/o your warped points of view, this phorum just wouldn't be the same.

Well, it's going to be some time now till I takeanother shot at it. I'm going to look for some grills in a junk yard.

I need two sets. One in gray, my interior color, and another in whatever color.

The misc. color I will use to redo the pods. This tme around I'll glass the inside and add body filler to the outside over the actual grill itself.

For now they're in the doors (mids) and in the A-pillars (tweets) and it sounds sweet. The review will be in the next few days.
