Thanks.

Although I run RSDcomps up front, I'm really into the 90s PG stuff so all this hub-bub doesn't bother me. I like the legacy of PG, not necessarily the current state of affairs.
MS are simply beautiful, too beautiful for me. I'm glad I just fell into the M series, it's the perfect amp for me.

Wow talk about a crapy new site. I wouild have never of seen this comming years ago. How times have changes. None of their products are anything special and they have only 2 lines:
A budget line
A lower budget line
And the route66 seems like nothing special, nothing we havent seen before. No big power, crappy/useless xovers. Dissapointing.

i wouldnt call the rsd line "budget" its no MS series but its surprisingly good. as far as board design and parts go, its actually the closest thing to an MS amp they have built since.
the roadster 66 is all rsd internals.
I would rank both the amps and subs above the old tantrum line. so i guess where ever you rank that is where to start with the rsd

I don't think this reflects on PG as much as it reflects on the car audio market in general.
I see so many people bitching about how Rockford sucks now but how glorious they once where. I see new mid to high end Alpine decks that have "2 volt" pre-outs that only hit 2 volts when they're clipping like a bitch.
There just isn't largely profitable market for ultra-high-end-super-gear-made-in-the-good-ol-USA anymore. There is a market, I'm sure of it, but it's diminished. The super high end shit these days is in the realm of 100% digital. The people who would be the market for today's high end gear are people that would rather buy up the old "classic" gear over multi-thousand dollar digital systems and super-duper amplifier designs that have been done over to death.
PG was, as far as I understand it, INVENTING amplifier designs with the MS series. Who the fuck is inventing new designs these days and selling large numbers of amps doing it? I'm sure there's someone, but it's still not the same I don't think.
I think all of the major players in the business have already played the market and now they know where their money is.... and it isn't ultra-rare-ultra-high-end.

Well I understand the RSD line isn't cheep crap, but on the web page they do use the term "value driven line" so my appologies for using the term budget. I have read that they are good, but from this vantage point they are like all the others, no features, nothing special. I can get a cheep amp anywhere with no features and lots of power.
As for the route 66, I am sure it makes good power, but where are the xovers? I can't run it active, what's the point ? Most manufacturers do that anyway, they put up a generic amp like everyone else.
Agree with what you guys wrote above me.
One of my points though, that wasn't said clearly or at all by myself, is the fact that you go on the web site, and the pictures are bad, not all the same size and there is no web page for all the products, there is a link to a pdf file of a catalogue. That spells cheep to me, just the feel of the web page as a whole is cheezy and low budget. Hell the first picture when you go in is of the new low buget line ryval not even of the RSD. And we all know that this ryval line was below xenon when it was manufacturer under a different name.
I have to respect compagnies like alpine, MTX and kenwood just to name a few that do bring something new to the table. They all offer generic stuff like PG and most other compagnies do but they also bring things like full range class D small foot print, full power no matter the impendance, built in DSP, or the abillity for a 4 channel amp to become a mono amp. That's what I want to see new features.
As far as I am concerned, anyone can order\design a huge amp from china\taiwan that takes up a ton of space with the generic high pass xover that goes to 400hz. No thanks.

^true. i think PG still has the desire somewhere to try new awesome ideas...but they are in financial dire straits and are to scared to take any kind of risk. i still have hope they can pull themselves out.
btw, random facts about ryval. the first ryvals were remakes of the octane amps still made by pg but for the euro market. the new ryval amps...are....pretty much exactly the same. not much has changed in pg's low level amp offering since the qx series.

i did see that but PG has been a pretty low key player on the danish market since 2001-2002 as far as i remember - ever since HiFiKlubben changed their strategy away from car-fi PG went into the dark - don't even think there was an official distributor - now they're back but unfortunately with a distributor that hat has a reputation for selling crap at a low price
- anyway - i hope they'll gain some of the lost ground back - they deserve it - afterall it was PG (+Denon and CV) that got Denmark rolling on ICE
