problemo

Post by karisma »

when i turn my system up about volume 25 on an alpine 9812rb, my whole system cuts out and then turns bk on?

im guessing the voltage is dropping so low it cant run anymore, and then since the system is off the voltage in the system returns to 12vs and then turns back on?
any1 got any guesses, is this a common problem

Your analysis sounds about right.

1. Are you clipping at "25"?
2. Power wiring
3. Battery
4. Alternator
5. Capacitor

I would look at your setup in that order and deduce from that which part in inadequate.

is thier audiable distrortion? if not i would guess your power wire is too small, you would have to really be clipping the be-jusues (technical term) out of your system to get it to draw enough currant to shut down your system

When you say "your whole system" is it everything including your Alpine deck? In that case your voltage is really down, below 10 volts i guess, or is it just your amp(s) shutting down.

How is your gain settings on your amps? If its like 0.2V or something near that its likely that your amps will clip with the volume on 25\35? and your subwoofer level set high on your alpine deck.

Tell us some more details.

@Bfowler: My eyes is stuck with your signatur :D Its just so funny.

what amps are you running? are you running 4awg to a block and then 4awg to multile amps?

i dont think its any of your head unit settings casuing this.

what i think is happening is your are clipping the bejusus out of your amps, and they have to high of fuse ratings, so instead of blowing a fuse, they are drawing so much currant they shut your head unit down

when your headunit shuts down, the remote wire to the amps goes dead, shutting them down also.

then i have

phoenix gold octane R 2.5.2 with 4awg to a block and then 8awg to this amp, due to the block on teh amp being smaller

Next Question:

The deck you have is it running speakers directly, without an external amplifier?

If so what kind of car do you have this in? I can only think of one car that this unit will not shut down on with the factory wiring. The reason I say this is that this head unit requires a dedicated 14AWG cable for the 12+ line, and will shut off at high volumes if factory wiring is used.

You have two options here use an external amp for all speakers, and disable the internal power, or run a large primary power wire fused at the battery.
I think we've established that "Ka Ka" and "Tukki Tukki" don't work.

Do you have a circuit breaker? I had the same prob and that's what it was in my case. But yea, we need to know if the HU is shutting off as well and how many/what amp/s are running what...
