SPL-install.. second edition..

Post by Pedi »

I did not want to destroy Bdubs767s thread, so I am starting a new one.

I am up for an SPL-install, anyone in here with "serious" SPL experience?

I am not that pure SQ-kinda guy, so I'd like to see if there are anyone in here that might have some ideas and experiences??

Hmm, just some ideas :)

2 Ti Elite 12d's
4 RSD 12's or 15's if they make them. I can't remember.
2-4 Xenons 12's with some 8's of your choice up front for midbass blend.
3 IDMax 12's in a Aperidoc Membrane enclosure or Infinite Baffle.
2 XXX 15's powered by some powerful amps.

Get some 8's for your midbass up front.

You can watch some of those videos, some are just insane.

Thanks for your input.

I do have all the amps and main woofers already. I have not chosen what 8"s for mid I am going to use yet - but that will come.

I am searching for a guy that might have the experience with SPL to give me some input and ideas how to build the chambers for highest dB in my car.

Ahhh, gotcha. So what are you wanting to hit in the range of? 150-160's or higher than that? I'm guessing it's going to depend on the type of sub for what type of enclosure also.

I'd would really consider the xxx or tarantulas from soundstream for some good spl if I could afford them.

They are just monsters.

brenz and nico are the guys for you. They both have put together some killer SPL installs. Mac also loves him some spl.

As for SPL more cone area the better, as long as you dont have everyhtign mounted on weird angles creating phase issues.
Can one send others to war if hes not willing to go himself?

Thanks guys...

I am building an "Old School" all the way, with both woofers and amps from early/mid 90s. So todays killer-items do me no good.

I have "most" of the stuff needed - including the car now, and I have wondered a while if I should make an thread about it. The main reason for NOT have done the thread, is that I have been sooooo much to work, that I have not had the time for building my install. And there is nothing worse to a project-thread than no progress....

And when I am at home, I do prior my family and other BMW-projects (rebuilds for "customers") that are taking space in my yard. All his to have the possibillity to use my time "left" to this install as I begin with it.

But even though I am much away for work, I do make plans and try to come up with ideas for my install. So this is why I did this thread - to maybe find some guys that I could share some ideas with...
