Could be the last link in the chain: alternator to battery.
I get a bit of an altwhine when my amp mounting hardware is touching the chassis. I doubt that's your issue but it's worth mentioning.
Warning: Stupid questions inside!

It could be the alt to batt cable I guess. That requires me to buy another waterproof anl fuse holder though.fuzzysnuggleduck wrote:Could be the last link in the chain: alternator to battery.

As far as the amp mounting hardware goes I'm not sure on that one. I did try to isolate the amp as much as possible, I even used nylon washers between the amp and the mounting straps.
Does anybody think upgrading the ground to the factory headunit will help anything?
I did pretty much finish this up tonight, but I only got crappy night pictures. I'll get better ones tomorrow and post them up. So far it sounds pretty dang good! I think it needs some tuning and playing with the x-overs, but pretty good for a first try!

Troubleshooting noise can be one of the most frustrating parts of finishing up an install. But often times we make it more frustrating than it needs to be by taking a random "guess and check" approach to solving the issue. Instead I recommend you follow the troubleshooting steps in the PG Tech Tips pdf one by one until you isolate the problem...

You don’t need to fuse that.mr tibbs wrote:It could be the alt to batt cable I guess. That requires me to buy another waterproof anl fuse holder though.fuzzysnuggleduck wrote:Could be the last link in the chain: alternator to battery.

The fuse under the hood is to protect you and your car, not protect your stereo. If you get in an accident and the big power wire is shorted, you want the fuse under the hood to blow, before the wire melts and catches something on fire.
I saw a guy several years back when I worked at Soundbuggy. He had a shitty car in which he ran an 8ga wire with no fuse. While finishing up something in the back he ran a screw through some steel and into the wire. The whole wire lit up like a light bulb filament and melted a line all the way through his carpet.
