"and yes they are out of business, they don't even use the phoenix gold name ..."
ahh, what's in a name afterall? Just because PG separated the parent company name from the brand name....
...just because a group of investors see some gold in PG's future and have kept the doors open and stopped the bleeding of the previous ownership strategy...
So I guess some people think you can, or should, ride a good name right into the ground for the right reasons. Kinda like those unions who make contract demands which close the doors of the factory which employs the union members.
Last I checked, PG puts more quality control into their current products than ever before, even their low line of amps make sick power (correctly advertised as well) and most of the people still there have been there for decades. Is it some cosmic accident that RSd subs are so good?
Sorry but no more MS amps, its 2007. Allthough, I do think that Roadster thing is quite nice looking...

I totaly agree w/Eric on this point of view.Eric D wrote:Not in today’s car audio market.RATIFIED wrote:PG went cheap and in the end, its killing them.People will seek out and pay for quality; as in Zed Audio, Rolls-Royce, etc. Well known names in their respective fields with little to no advertising.Mastiff wrote:As opposed to PG with zero market presence?
And I don’t really see people seeking out Zed Audio. Nearly everyone I know of has never even heard of Zed. There is no mainstream high end any more in car audio. There are a few high end companies, but they don’t sell to the masses, and the masses don’t want something high end to begin with.
Everyone has heard of JL Audio, and 75% or more see JL Audio as a “high end” company. Until JL starts selling at Wal-Mart, they will retain this market perception of being high end.

There is always someone looking for high end, but the market may be so small, no one can justify staying in it, or entering it.jbondox wrote:I agree with doc, but there is a market for the high end also
It takes a lot of capitol to see an amplifier design from concept to production for example. Most of this is spent on the wages of the engineers working from 9:00 to 5:00 every day perfecting the design.
So what if a company comes up with a solid truly high end amp design which costs say $500 to manufacture? Well, they will want to sell it for at least $1,500 to recoup their costs. So they sell 100 of these amps. Nice, they made $100,000 on the deal. Now what if they use a generic design, slap their name on it, and market it to high school kids? Say it costs $25 to manufacture in China and they sell it for $250. They probably sell 1,000 of these. Now they are looking at $225,000. What path are the shareholders going to want to follow?
