Half of ZX475Ti Vs ZX400Ti

How much sound do you think that I would lose if I powered a Rsd 12 off of the back half of a ZX475Ti vs a ZX400Ti?

The 475 would be 250W at 4ohm mono

The 400 would be 400W at 4ohm mono

I'm trying to keep the system as small as possible and I have both amps. If the difference would only be a few dbs I can live with that.

Any thoughts??

Based on the design of those amps, I would guess your sub would be twice as loud and have much better control running off the ZX400Ti, instead of using half of the ZX475Ti.

About 3 decibels, tops. Just be very gentle on the ZX475 and it will treat you right. I currently do the exact same with my install... speakers and sub off of a Ti500.4. It sounds fanastic.

You do have to be sure to not clip and overload the sub channel on the 4 channel amp, otherwise you can burn it out much easier than with a separate amp for the sub. This is because the power supply is built to power 4 channels, but if the sub channels draw more power from the supply than they can handle, it will burn them out.

What sub and highs do you have?

How would an Xmax 12 and Rsd65cs fair on the 475??

Correct, same amp.

Sensitivity is the most important thing here. I set it on the conservative side, and use the LPL to turn down very loud songs.

I have Elite 6.5 highs, and I have used 2xXmax 12, 2xRSD 12, 1xIDMax 12, and 1xRSD 10 on the same amp setup. I have never wanted more bass than what the amp has given me.

Correct, same amp.

Two Xmax sealed was enough to rattle my teeth... they were absolutely vicious. I wouldn't recommend running a pair though, as that required a 2 ohm bridged load. The amp could handle it, but it pushed it even further into the "danger zone". I can only recommend a minimum load of 2 ohm stereo or 4 ohm bridged.

One Xmax would be a 4 ohm bridged load, so you will have no problems with this. Likewise, a single RSD 12D2 would also work perfectly. I run a pair of 12D4's now.

I just bought an Xmax12 in a sealed box on ebay. I too used to have 2 Xmax12s sealed, they were on the ZX400Ti, two would be too much for me these days.

How does the Rsd 12 compare to the Xmax 12??

The RSD 12 plays deeper and is less boomy than the Xmax. The Xmax is definitely louder on higher bass notes though.

I was happy with two on the 400 and the one should be getting more power, continuously anyway, than before, plus this car is a true hatch so it should sound quite good.
