Best amp for Ti12dElite?

Which amplifier do you guys think would be the best amp for a Ti12dElite?

I have three of these subs so preferrably I will need three amps.

Right now I have (2) Tantrum 1200.1 and (3) ZPA 0.5 but I recently I've been leaning towards trying to find (3) Titanium 1200.1 or (3) Exile 2400.1.

What would be the best amp for them? As I stated in another post I want to build a ported box for each sub for SQL.

Tantrum - 1500 watts optimized for 4 ohms. Will draw more current at 2 ohms with no additional power, but lots of additional heat. Comedy option: run one per subwoofer voicecoil (6 amps) for an insane setup. I have played with that on ONE Elite, and it was just nuts.

ZPA 0.5 - 1400 watts or so optimized for 4 ohms. You can clip the diodes to get them to produce more power at 2 ohms. These are not SPL amplifiers and as such they are fairly delicate and should be treated with the utmost of respect if you choose to drive them at this load. The amplifiers are class A/B, so they are 60% efficient as well, so they will draw a buttload more current to make the same power as a Class-D.

Titanium 1200.1 - 1400 watts or so optimized for 2 ohms. These run Elites like champs, however due to the A/B class they also draw lots more current to achieve the same power.

Exile 2400.1 - 2400 watts optimized for 1 ohm. With the 2 ohm Elite load, you will only be getting half of this amplifier's theoretical output, i.e. 1200 watts at 2 ohms. It is a Class D amplifier so it will draw the least amount of current. Ultra-comedy option: they can be strapped to run 4800 watts at 2 ohms if you are looking to blow your woofers

According to the manual the Exile 2400.1 will produce 1600 watts at a 2 ohm load. If I didn't have so much invested in Xenon amps then this is the amp I would use.

As stipud said though, you could buy only two instead of three of the Exile's and strap them and get the same power output (1600 watts) as using one for each woofer.

well depending on how much money I have laying around when I do this I may look into (6) Exile 2400.1 and have some fun with them

How long would it last for daily use?

I had a 2400.1 a while back, and I liked it alot.. Tons of power, in a small chassis...

Well I guess what my main concern right now would be. How much power can a Ti12dElite actually handle day in and day out?

I've heard of people pushing over 3000watts into them but that was for SPL Blurps.

So if I was crazy enough to strap 4800watts per sub what would happen besides the possibility of blowing the cone out the basket

If the 2400.1 outputs 1600rms @ 2 ohms you definitely wouldn't need 6 of them for three 12d elites. I know some people really go big on their power like that, but they're doing it for competition purposes and really aren't concerned about daily use like you were concerned with.

that is a good point but i would like to do some local competitions once i finally get the system completed

so the question is would i be able to turn down the gain enough to play daily and also be able to crank the hell out of it when wanted

well stipud you got me thinking about doubling up the tantrum 1200.1 on one Ti12dElite right now. My only problem is that the single sub I got in my car at the moment is in a 1cuft gross ( 0.8 cuft net) sealed box.

I had received some wrong information when I built the box and I built it to small. If I doubled the power to it would it still perform well in that small of a box or will it cause damage?

No damage, in fact the small box will probably keep you from hitting mechanical excursion limits. It may build up heat a bit faster, so obviously don't run it at 3000 watts on test tones all the time. The setup I heard had both amps gain matched at 1400 watts, and he used his LPL to turn it down a lot. Man that sub was tight and accurate on that power... painful bass too.

so if I read that post correctly and I want to gain match both amps at 1400W @ 4 ohms then the no load voltage required on the amps would need to be 74.8V

Yea and so is 10990 freaking legs that took me more times to figure out then my ego wanted.

A moded ZPA0.5 at 2 ohms will do around 1500wrms. A review tested one in at 1100 watts at 4 ohms.

My ZPA0.3 moded at 2 ohms benched 892 wrms, 687 wrms if I recall at 4 ohms. It was rated at 600 wrms X 1 @ 4 ohms so at 892, it's roughly a 50% increase.

That's my input on the ZPA line.

If I get up the courage and the $$, I'll mod my ZPA0.5 as well. Then I'll have to find someone that can bench it at 2 ohms.
